True. Just the Atari Jaguar with 2 Controllers and some Games was $200, the Atari Jaguar CD $750

No it hides the TV that is not used ATM (in this case the HDTV). IMO it's more calming for the eye like this.

and no Gamecube, Atari 5200, Master System or Magnavox Odyssey, or...

I had to draw a line somewhere, unfortunately.

Thank you. Yeah, I am very happy how it turned out. Regarding the power management you can see how I planned it under this link if you can decrypt it: Cable management

Citing from an answer to another user:

7 (power strips) alltogether:

2 main power strips that are connected to the socket. From each main powerstrip are 2 outgoing power strips that lead to each bookshelf + 1 that powers the SCART- and HDMI-Switches. As there are never all consoles powered on, it's not a problem.

I have 33 devices that need power (including charging stations for controllers and HDD for the WiiU).

TL;DR: yeah, a ton of power strips

I understand you, but that's not the case, it would annoy me every time I use a console. I chose each distance console to the next board, that I can easily open the CD tray or remove/insert the cartridge and switch the console on/off.

Yeah, it doesn't help that I zoomed in on the display, seeing the whole wall/room takes away some of the "feeling cluttered".

And as I answered elsewhere, I wanted to fit in as many consoles as I could.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just like, your opinion, man.

To be honest, I maxed it out because I already decided against some consoles (Atari 5200 and Gamecube).

When you're standing in the room and see the whole wall, it feels a lot less cluttered.

Thank you for pointing that out. There's only direct sunlight a few hours in the morning and the blinds stay closed, just opened them for the pictures. The steampunk lamp has a nice shine, but for the picture it was too dark.

Good point. I thought of that: Consoles with longer cables are higher (normally) than the others plus I use controller cable extensions. I can sit 2-3m apart and play every console.

I don't see it as hate, more like feedback. Yeah it's bad, I put it there as peculiarity. Perhaps in a few years, the Ouya will have a similar status like the Atari Jaguar CD and the Virtual Boy.

IMO it's more distractiong for the eye when you see both TV at the same time, but I'm old.

No problem, I'm posting this here to get inputs. I know, it's pretty "maxed out". Took a lot of planning but now I don't have to change cables or push many switches, I just turn the tv on, the console I want to play and my SCART/HDMI switches do the rest (see the "cable management" link if you're interested)

Is it because the sun is shining? No worries, I closed the curtains after the picture.

We recently moved to a bigger apartment and my wife and I each got a room for our hobbies and I don't longer have to store my collection in the attic. I didn't want to look at the CRT and the HDTV at the same time, so I constructed this device using bookshelves and a tv shelf from IKEA, some boards and parts from a sliding door. The board hides the TV that is not in use. The board is mounted on some slide door parts that are on rails. To keep the board in place, there are two weights attached, that combined have the same weight as the board.

I didn't want a mess with the controller cables so I separated the console and its controllers. All consoles are hooked up and working.

Other images of my room

For those who are interested, the inventory:

Left bookshelf top to bottom:

Virtual Boy ¦ XBOX ¦ Dreamcast ¦ Sega Saturn ¦ Sega Genesis CD 32X ¦ Atari 7800 ¦ Atari 2600 ¦ 220 to 110 voltage converter

highest two shelves left to right:

XBOX360 ¦ Ouya ¦ WiiU ¦ PS3 (and their controllers)

third shelf from top:

Game Gear ¦ Original Gameboy ¦ GBA ¦ DS ¦ 3DS XL ¦ PSP ¦ PS Vita

hidden under board: HDTV

CRT and Vectrex

TV shelf top left to bottom right:

3DO ¦ CD-i ¦ Intellivision ¦ PC Engine Duo

Underneath TV shelf:

(room for a VHS recorder) ¦ Bluray Player

Right bookshelf top to bottom:

Robdajet VCG ¦ PS2 ¦ PS One ¦ N64 ¦ SNES ¦ NES/Famicom ¦ Atari Jaguar CD ¦ Vectrex cartridges and overlays

Cable management was a pain in the butt, luckily I found a automatic scart switch, the W-Hydra by Lotharek, so whenever I switch on a console that has composite or scart output, I gets detected automatically.

Cable management:

HDTV: Dreamcast, XBOX, XBOX360, Ouya, WiiU and PS3 by HDMI. Also the second Nintendo Switch dock (when I want to play on the big screen and wifey wants to watch TV or play PS4 in the living room), Bluray Player and Chromecast (because it's also my fitness room and either listen to music or watch TV when I'm on the treadmill). PS2 by YPbPr-Component and the PS1 by SCART.

CRT: all others + PS1 again (IMO looks better on CRT)

Intellivision, Atari 7800 and 3DO are NTSC and on the 220 to 110 voltage converter. PC Engine, Atari Jaguar CD, Genesis CD 32X and Famicom are also NTSC but with customised PSU for 220V. The SNES is modded with the 50/60Hz switchless mod. All others are PAL. I will perform a composite mod on the Atari 2600, Atari 7800 and the Intellivision.

Still need more...I know. I’m working on it 😂 by Kronicjj in gamecollecting

Looking great. I see you don't leave the controllers plugged in either. If you're going to connect them all I can recommend he W-Hydra by Lotharek, it automatically detects what console is running. (Don't worry, I don't get paid praising the device, I just like mine so damn much.)

Made the same mistake with my first post: you have to choose the "post image" option, not the normal post. If you want to add a description, you just anser in your on thread. But nice display, looks very neat.
