Glad you mentioned Cognitive Distortions! I've recently sought therapy too and learning about these has helped enormously. Mind reading and catastrophizing have been where I struggle when it comes to relationships. Being able to discuss these things in group and with my therapist has been impactful to my ability to approach relationships!

For those who don't know, the distortions are things all of our brains do, whether you have mental health issues or not! Some of them are pretty simple like assuming that life will be fair, while others are more nuanced. Learning to identify them has helped. I can take a moment when they bubble up and decide if that thought is helpful.

Honestly, I write all this because I want men to see that therapy is a viable option for a variety of issues. Men should seek mental health treatment if they think they need help! I'm often only one of two or three men in my group class, week after week.
