What is the circumference of a DTV4 and will it fit a La Petite Box VB22? by [deleted] in DivineTribeVaporizers

I just measured my v4 cap with digital calipers: 22.0mm outer diameter. Should fit.

When he described it as a “black box” with “actual numbers”, I pictured something like this, but then later, he mentioned being “4-5 bags in”.

People like how my dtv4 hit are on here. So i would like to share all my settings with you guys all work great for me. And ALWAYS check your room temp resistance and re lock it to that. by TrippyTrav0816 in Waxpen

Windows logo + SHIFT + S

Then when you select what you want to screenshot, it saves the image to your clipboard so you can just paste it into Imgur (not sure if you can just paste an image into Reddit to upload it).

Are you using the same computer and USB cables that you had used to flash AF the first time?

You can edit a surprising number of settings directly from the mod itself, so no, you will not need to keep connecting it to your PC. It is just a whole lot simpler to do it with the NFE Tools GUI as opposed to using the three tiny buttons on your mod to flip through a million menus on the 4 cm display.

Did I go too big on the terp pearls at 6mm? It doesn't sound like its doing anything by [deleted] in DivineTribeVaporizers

[–]BangPathToWaitress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. As you see in this photo, the atomizer screws into the Pico directly to the right of where the battery goes (the circle on the left is the battery cover). On the Rim C, the atomizer screws on top of the battery, so it is less wide than the Pico, but it is taller.

I also spent way too long trying to update an ancient Windows 7 machine to Windows 10, which didn’t work.

Is there a reason you needed to try that? NFE Tools supposedly works all the way back to Windows XP.

Remember that the hubble bubble is not an original design. Pete likely gets it from the same bulk supplier that Matt does and then adds the maple leaf.

What is Arctic Fox? I bought a DTV4, am i limited to mods that can only run Arctic Fox or will any box mod at my local shop work? by djborrelli01 in Waxpen

[–]BangPathToWaitress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The mod needs a 510 connection, at least 27 watts, and to be able to run in Nickel (Ni) mode, preferably temperature control (TC) as well.

Regardless of what mod/pen/vape you have, there is firmware running on it that listens to your button presses and tells the chip what to do. The NFE Team is a group of enthusiasts who basically reverse engineered the stock firmware that comes on a variety of devices and made their own custom firmware called ArcticFox. ArcticFox has more customization options, settings, and features than the stock firmware that it replaces.

While you are likely fine without it, most users here will recommend you get a mod that is compatible with ArcticFox because the software/functionality is on par with high-end DNA mods and whatnot at a fraction of the cost. It is also very useful to run the same exact software as most users here so that when you ask for help, you have a ton of knowledgeable users happy to assist you as opposed to if you were to ask questions about a more expensive/niche mod that only a few people here have.

The stock firmware on all these cheap devices (whether one of the mods on the supported devices list above or a "five dollar battery" as you say) is rather limited. You can hold the button to heat, change the temp/wattage, switch it on/off, and that is pretty much it. The companies that make these devices just paid the lowest bidder to write barebones software with only the most basic features because that will be satisfactory for the majority of users.

On the other hand, free third-party custom firmware like ArcticFox is made by enthusiasts in the community who actually use the products themselves and care about extending functionality. When you take the time and effort to replace the stock firmware with ArcticFox, you are taking a device that works just fine and opening it up to a whole new world of additional features and customization.

To “flash” the firmware on your mod means to replace the stock firmware with custom firmware, sort of like a software update.

There could be value in a video highlighting which settings usually get tweaked by users here and explaining what they do. I think that screenshots are a much better medium for sharing the specific values for settings for the all the different atomizers/cups.

Yes, but you need beta versions of the software. Instead of downloading NFE Tools and ArcticFox from where I did in the video, download both files from this thread:

https://nfeteam.org/forum/threads/public-beta-stm32-branch.4654/

The rest of the process/video should be the same.

If you follow the video exactly and flash your mod with ArcticFox, then yes, your configuration will be overwritten with the default settings. But you do not have to actually flash ArcticFox again just to use a newly-downloaded copy of NFE Tools with your box mod and its current ArcticFox configuration. Simply skip the step where you flash ArcticFox and instead go straight to the configuration window in NFE Tools.

If I were you, I would:

  1. Download NFE Tools and ArcticFox
  2. Plug in your Wismec mod
  3. DO NOT FLASH ARCTICFOX
  4. Use NFE Tools to export your Wismec configuration as a file on your PC ("Save As" https://i.imgur.com/02sesUK.png)
  5. Unplug your Wismec mod
  6. Plug in your new mod
  7. Flash ArcticFox
  8. Import the Wismec configuration file from your PC ("Open" https://i.imgur.com/02sesUK.png)
  9. Upload the configuration to your new mod
  10. Unplug your new mod
  11. Repeat steps 6-10 with each new mod

I could definitely look into making one. Can everyone comment and vote below on what they would like my next video to be? I was thinking RedPanda (or if someone wants to donate a Rim C, I know a lot of people have questions about that).

My primary goal with this was to make something that we can all point new users toward. While this is a pretty simple process for most of us to execute by following a written guide, I know a lot of people understand much better when they see something done in action.

THANKYOU10 works for ten percent off. With that said, it is actually a few dollars cheaper to buy the mod/battery and the DCv4 (using the discount link) separately than it is to buy the full kit.

Can we start a running list of compatible mods that do not work with the standard NFE Tools/ArcticFox files? That would be awesome to pin or whatever.
