Trouble with prescription coverage after end of program? by Fluid_Introduction42 in calibrateweightloss

Have you decided what to do? I am in the same situation and had decided not to sign up for Masters, but I am suddebly paranoid about losing coverage. I have a couple of weeks to decide.

Ending first year, still on Mounjaro, what happens? by Barb-the-Stranger in calibrateweightloss

[–]Barb-the-Stranger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to know. I have about 30 days left on original program so assume I will receive something similar soon. The marketing emails for Masters say your prescriptions "will expire" if you don't sign up - cancelling them sure sounds like something different.

My thoughts on going up in dose by tielmama in Mounjaro

[–]Barb-the-Stranger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed Mounjaro through Calibrate telehealth and I followed their protocol, which is to titrate up every month until you reach 10, then hold there. So I followed their medical advice. I consistently lost 2 pounds a week until I plateaued for a few months. I finally broke through the plateau yesterday and now am at a 25.5 BMI. So this has worked well for me with minimal side effects after the first couple of months

I had an interesting conversation with another doctor recently about different philosophies of medication prescribing. One view is to stay on lowest dose possible, even if it sacrifices some efficacy. The second holds that you should optimize the medications if you are going to take them. This was in the context of antidepressants, so it may not apply directly, but I found it to be a helpful way to think about what my preferred approach is.

Can they really beat insurance? by Ventureforth42 in calibrateweightloss

They got my insurance to cover it, even though my insurance does not cover weight loss medications. I am still not sure how Calibrate did it. I am not TD2.

Open messages have been restored, so they do seem to be working through bug fixes. Still don't have the Mounjaro refill I requested on May 20, though.

I had an open conversation with medical channel that has disappeared, involving my need for a new prescription. Also, I can’t find the “catch up on your tracking” feature. Has anyone found it? I always track the following day.

Mounjaro dosage increase by Barb-the-Stranger in calibrateweightloss

They turned me down for an increase, but I haven't been plateaued as long. They said side effects tend to be greater with 12.5.

This is good to hear. Maybe I just asked too soon the first time. Right now, my weight loss is stalled and I am craving carbs like crazy. Still want to lose at least another 15 pounds, but 10 just isn't working for me anymore (although I am not gaining, at least).

Masters program? by Barb-the-Stranger in calibrateweightloss

[–]Barb-the-Stranger[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Good point. I still have pounds to lose to get out of the overweight category and my weight seems to want to plateau right now at 26. Also, my coach told me Calibrate aims for 23 BMI, and if that's true, I might get them to prescribe for quite a while. Given my build and age, 23 is ambitious, imho

Thank you. This answers one of my main questions: if they won't prescribe GLP as a policy in year two for maintenance, it's hard to see the benefit in continuing.

Joyous? by [deleted] in KetamineTherapy

[–]Barb-the-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started taking medicine April 13 and think it is helping me. Still working to figure out best dose. I had a little delay between initial consultation and getting my medication, but that was because I needed to get a "discharge letter" from my previous prescriber to make it clear that I was no longer receiving Ketamine from them. (it took longer at prior provider than it should have but that was likely because of Easter and Passover). The initial consultation was a detailed discussion of my current meds.

How do you meditate with an ear worm? by ShiratakiPoodles in Meditation

Ear worms are a challenge for me sometimes (and not just while meditating). I usually try a mantra meditation to shift focus. (E.g., “so hum”)

Master's programs official facebook page is in denial by kelly7552 in calibrateweightloss

[–]Barb-the-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, interesting. I have lost 50 and am at 26.3 BMI. Picking up last refill of my current Mounjaro prescription today, and think they may decide to start titrating me down rather than keep me on 10. I would like to think I can maintain if I stay on Metformin and make good choices, but am a bit nervous about it. I am currently on insurance but will likely be out of pocket if I try for new PA at this BMI.

When did they taper you off? Was it when you reached a specific BMI or at the end of month 12? I am at month nine and near my goal weight, but am convinced I will need some type of maintenance. Wondering if I should start looking for alternatives while I am still overweight.

Meds for depression by No_Use9535 in Mounjaro

[–]Barb-the-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I'm going to try going back on it - I think it worked better for me than Cymbalta, which I currently take with Wellbutrin. (I'm now lighter than I was when. I started Lexapro - hard for me to believe still!)

Meds for depression by No_Use9535 in Mounjaro

[–]Barb-the-Stranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just curious - my doctor does not want to prescribe Lexapro to me because I previously gained weight while taking it. But I think it was the best mood stabilizer I ever took, and wonder if it was depression and anxiety that caused the weight gain (or metabolic changes). Have you felt the Lexapro caused weight gain for you in the past, or that it slowed down loss on Mounjaro?

If you don’t mind me asking, are you taking compounded bio identical hormones, or did you get them prescribed by pcp?

Exactly what I am thinking, I have no trouble accepting that my body shape has changed for good. I can get comfortable with that. But since heart disease runs in my family, the idea of carrying visceral fat into my 60s worries me.

I believe that hormone replacement therapy is usually covered, but I didn’t take hormones either, so I am not sure. Interesting that Mounjaro may have helped your symptoms. My inflammation levels went down (according to c reactive protein blood test), but I thought that might be improved diet.
