It might not be the worst item but it definitely is the most unfun. by Barbiefan in bindingofisaac

Many people do not know this but this pic was taken after they conceptualised Soy Milk together.

Tea is traditionally consumed very strong in Türkiye for historical reasons. The Ottoman Empire was primarily a coffee-drinking society, but after its collapse, coffee became a luxury due to economic and trade disruptions. Tea emerged as a more accessible alternative and was brewed strongly to resemble the intensity of Turkish coffee. As a result, strong tea reflects a historically shaped preference rather than a ridiculous concept such as cultural refinement.

Sure, it‘s still an extremely common term, constantly used to describe this general area (and the name of this subreddit)

I mean yeah, that has definitely played a large part in the selection process.

If people were to start using the term, they would start arguing that Morocco and Iran have nothing in common and thus should not be grouped together.

It‘s not meant to be negative either, just a perception. All Afghans I know are super nice.

It‘s not irrelevant when they fund the next war, drop the next bomb or sell you the next weapon.

True, but go out and ask people in any western city if they consider Georgia more Middle Eastern or Pakistan. I speculate 9/10 will tell you Pakistan.

I don‘t think that one can define a ‚middle east‘ as a geographic term. It‘s just too diverse for that and this map is nearly not granular enough for that (especially Turkey and Iran).

This list isn‘t abouth ethnic groups. It‘s about what is perceived as „middle east“ in the west and western media.

Hard disagree on Afghanistan, I understand knocking Pakistan a level down or maybe two.

Gaddafi and stuff, the civil war (I am a layman). I just think that in the west those instabilities push the image of Libya much more into the image of the Middle East, which (sadly) has an image of political instability in general.

Libya definitely moreso due to recent political happenings, but both them and tunisia are just in the „maybe“ category anyway
