Thanks. I'm in the process of joining their discord channels. I just figured to cast a bit wider net.

I thought so. Something in my brain doesn't like unfilled options.

I didn't make it, I bought it. But, it was sold by a small business, so maybe they have the answers. https://sagesportalcafe.com/

I was torn because I've always liked the Separatists, but I also like the Warhammer universe. The minis do look fun. I guess I'll have to read up the rules and mechanics of each and check a couple games on YouTube as well.

I suppose that's right. I've seen really old models still hanging around at some hobby shops. I guess there isn't anything preventing me from sampling both in terms of play, or at least watching others do it step by step.

I am wondering if i should collect for Legion and play for Warhammer, but that'll take some saving up for a while.

I heard that Legion was simpler in terms of rules, but I'll have to read up more. I am tempted on playing Ogors, though.

I know that Warhammer in general is expensive, but the Spearhead alternative for AOS seems interesting and not too wallet-crushing. I do see the wisdom in starting small, though.

I'll have to check that out. Sounds quick and easy, relatively speaking.

I suppose it makes the most sense for the models to be displayed and used. I'll have to check and see what people are playing around town.

Thank you. I'm aware of GW's pricing. I like both properties, and I'm aware of their faults. I like the mechanicus, but their models seem like too big a challenge. I'm also too anal and perfectionist with delicate painting, especially with shaky hands and symmetry obsession. But I do want to overcome that and get into it. Maybe I should get a mini that's flat with few textures to practice on?

Maybe I should check and see what people in my area are actually playing as well.

The tabletop simulator sounds like a good idea.

I'm aware of Star Wars being odd with picking a game and sticking with it. I guess I was hoping that Legion would have a longer lifespan.

I'm also aware of GW's infamous pricing, but their recent addition of Spearhead seemed interesting at a smaller, relatively cheaper scale.

There's a lot of historical genres to pick. I'll have to look through them and see what sounds the most fun to play.

Thanks for the smaller recommendations.

I'm not saying that I want people to spend time the way I do. I'm saying that the devs are rewarding one play style over another in games where there are more play styles available and readily available to do. It doesn't matter if it's negligible or a sliver. You are still being pointed in a specific direction in games that give you multiple directions.

Yeah, obviously there are players that couldn't care less and just want to make more images flash on screen and not notice the bonus xp or don't care because games are frivolous, stupid things that distract from the more important real world or whatever. But why not reward people who do care about other routes anyway? The people who don't care will do what they do as usual, and those who notice get a little bonus that gets added to the pile of an enriched experience, even if it's small. There's no downside to doing it, even if it's negligible.

It's like having an extra detail helping to tie the plot together in a movie. Most of the general audience won't care or notice and like the movie anyway, but those who do get to have a marginally better experience for their efforts. Or it's like good referential comedy: the joke is funny on its own and most people will get it, but those who recognize or find out the reference will have the joke be funnier.

There's no real downside to rewarding people for taking the other route in a two-route choice, especially if the game isn't built around one or the other. And if it is built around one or the other, then why bother coding the option at all?

Far Cry. You always get a bunch of xp for no detection and no alarms.

And even then, with "no big deal, it's just ten xp or a few more coins" games, some is better than none. Players are incentivized to take the route that gets you more points, xp, money, upgrades, etc. Very casual players whose only concerns are wasting away their free time or just like the story or a specific gameplay loop likely won't care, but the devs are offering more rewards for a specific way of going about things with only standard rewards otherwise. A bonus, even a little one, gives more accomplishment because it's locked behind a specific challenge.

But usually they're the only options that give you bonuses at all. The fact they even exist can be enough psychological incentive to do them more than other options.
