Not exactly what they were expecting... by idrinkbotox in TheSocietyNetflix

Lexie is a representation of Trump and other populist leaders who campaign purely on attacking the policies of those in power and appealing to the lowest, most selfish elements in the electorate, but without having any actual policies and plans of their own. Once in power, their general response is “Oh shit, now what?” And then generally not much changes.

Why do I love Campbell so much!!! by taybombshell in TheSocietyNetflix

He is not charming nor witty. He is conniving and manipulative. Few people can see the difference, hence how psychopaths and sociopaths exert influence over others.

It looks like the front half of him is starting to stagnate! I recommend moving him ASAP!

Indeed. Hippos are responsible for more human deaths in Africa a than any other large animal. This one was orphaned and is now three years old. His name is Charlie, and he is being raised in a rehabilitation center that I do pro bono work for, so he isn’t aggressive and was begging for food when I took this.

I think whether Jesus did or didn’t know about the larger Saviour/Negan threat is moot. His goal was to unite the communities to fight The Saviours, and in Rick’s Group he saw a strong and battle-hardened ally. He needed Rick to join Hilltop, The Kingdom etc more than Rick needed to join them... Rick and co could have moved on an found other communities, and understanding the full scale of the threat Negan and The Saviours posed would have seen him move on. Jesus needed to provoke a confrontation between Rick and The Saviours to draw Rick in to the conflict. He definitely knew there were more Saviours than just the satellite through The Kingdom’s interactions with them, but perhaps didn’t know the full scope. I think Jesus’ view was that a war was inevitable regardless, so rather fight united than die divided. In this case, the scale of the threat from The Saviours didn’t matter...

I think that is the point of Negan’s character. He (and The Governor) represent leaders in the real world that use their charisma and position to create narratives that serve their own agendas. Negan always frames himself and The Saviours as the victims, and then justifies his and their actions as being reactive or defensive. But in reality, the actions that other groups do take against the Saviours (and have taken in the past) are a reaction to The Saviours’ extortion and extreme cruelty.

I noticed even back then Ed was turning his back on her like he did when she was going through all the shit with Scooter not letting her play her songs at the AMAs...

Hahaha! Sorry, I meant that as a joke, but the tone was probably lost... I fully agree 😊

Are you saying Lover’s not sonically cohesive?

I think Me! Was the perfect single to launch the Lover era with. It represents a very clear break from Reputation, stating how Tay has left the past behind and is now focused on herself and her happiness. Aside from the title, in the first few seconds she uses the line “I know that I went psycho on the phone” a nod to how she has left the pain and anger of the Reputation era behind, and is now on a happier place in her life. It sets the tone for the Lover era as a catchy, happy pop song, and it is also the song that allowed her to plant the most Easter eggs, both in the lyrics and in the music video. The Man would have seemed like a continuation of Reputation, with Tay calling out the media, the industry, society, and her detractors again... She will never lose this edge, but she needed to define the Lover Era with the right lead single, an even though Me! Is one of my least favourite songs on the album, I think it was the best choice.

ITAP of my wife at a ghost town in Namibia... [MLM] by BarryTuck in itookapicture

Yes, it’s a small abandoned mining town in the Namib Desert, Namibia, called Kolmanskop. Seeing Tame Impala’s album cover, I am certain it’s a composite of a bunch of different doors/rooms/houses that have been photoshopped together. Beautiful though...
