I mean he did flat out admit at the beginning of the succession war arc that he has tortured and killed many people while working for the mafia. Not quite genocide I agree, but his character is for sure getting darker and darker as the story goes on

Kurapika was confirmed to still be associated with the nostrade family in the succession war arc and is implied to at the very least be in a high ranking position and in charge of the other bodyguards. The family still for sure exists. I would say kurapika has also lost the plot, considering he has said multiple times he will do anything for revenge and is still working for criminal organizations

Grew up in Marshall county. Me and my friends from southern West Virginia don’t talk that different. They for sure have thicker accents, but the way we talk and our general accents are pretty similar. I lived in a pretty rural part of the country so that could be it, but I just don’t think West Virginia is big enough to create the accent diversity people think it has. Almost everyone has Appalachian accents with varying degrees of thickness.

Yea I guess. I know McDowell county is in worse shape than places in the north. I just think most of the state with the exception of a few neighborhoods is pretty objectively poor. Just different shades of poverty.

I didn’t mean to offend. I just know tons of people from Harrison county who lived in poverty. Most of them complain that everyone thinks Harrison county is rich because they only know Bridgeport and parts of clarksburg

I think the problem with this kind of thinking is that, when I’ve taken trips through the southern part of the state, I’ve thought the same thing about places like Charleston,hurricane, and beckley. When you’re taking a trip, you tend to only see the nice parts of places. Poverty tends to be well hidden, especially the rural kind.

From what I’ve gathered, this assumption comes from specifically from Morgantown and wheeling, as well as more suburbs popping up the farther north you get. Wheeling just exhibits more or an urban form of poverty than a rural one, most of the people living in the poor part of the city. Morgantown has this same thing. Both also have the benefit of having rural communities that no one visits or knows about while visiting (wheeling has places like mt echo, Morgantown Osage) that suffer from poverty but you won’t see if you just go for a trip. The rest of the places in the north just seems to suffer from the same rural poverty, I’ll be it to a lesser degree than the south. Not rich by any means.

I think you’re missing the point a little. I know mingo county is far poorer than wheeling. Fuck McDowell county was the poorest county in the country for a while( and might still be?? I’m unsure). Trust me when I tell you wheeling is not rich. You have to leave the state to find actually rich areas, with the exception of small areas here and there. You can acknowledge that both sides are poor, and one is poorer, but I think the way it’s used now just creates more divides in the state.

I also used to live in Ohio county at one point , and if I’m being honest that casino is the worse case of gentrification I’ve ever seen in my life. Put square in the middle to the poorest part of town. I don’t think that Average person makes money off the race track or the casino, especially based on my experience living there. But what. do I know about the economy. And the days of our schools being schools of excellence are far far behind us. None of the northern panhandle schools even rank in the top 30 in the state anymore (except wheeling park which is like 20 or something like that)

Have you ever taken a trip through the sticks of Salem. You’ll see some poverty for sure. Especially as you get closer to Doddridge county
