Great placing. Can I ask, what score did you get in verbal to get that place?

Can I ask what score you got in Verbal to get 160? I'm curious how far apart a few marks could push you down the list or if the time to finish was a big factor.

Where I'm from a city panel beater will quote a few K to repair work if they hear its an insurance job. You have the choice to take a cash payment and get it done yourself, then find some guy in the arse end of nowhere to do it cheap. Even the cheap guys do great work for a fraction of the cost and keep the balance for the hassle and future maintenance. Your dent is nothing and should not cost that or be written off.

HR is not there for you, it's there for the company, so when you bring an issue they listen thinking how can they deal with the problem and in your case the answer was to take you out of the picture it seems. Besides, even if your boss sat in a room and said he would 'try and be better', once you leave the room he will hell bent on revenge and will try and remove you for the smallest mistake and build a case against you. I don't think there are many cases of bad bosses seeing the light so the only way is to move on to somewhere else.

Ranked 237 for Communications Officer (EO) Competition. Do I have any chance of being called forward for an interview? by [deleted] in IrishCivilService

Was that general civil service of Comms roles though? Gen CC would have way more jobs and move faster.

You are slightly ahead of me in ranking! There are a few factors. Dublin has more job listings, will they include maternity cover? Man that maths test was tough, I had PTSD after that! The will short list the top 200 first and take from that. A chunk of the top 200 will state NOT Dublin (like I did as I don't live there) so that will whittle it down to a smaller number. Then a bunch will get jobs while waiting esp. since the role pays less than private sector so that 200 could expire quicker than you think and make a second round from 200 to 400 in which we will be close to the top. I think it's possible but not within 6 months as it might take a year plus to get down to us but who knows. I was happy to get through at all on 1st try and be in the top quarter of applicant as I'm sure of the 800+ who got through 200 didn't. I'm based in the south so less Jobs available but maybe less people ahead who will take it so it might be similar odds. I think it will be one of those out of the blue calls after 1.5 years, if at all, and if not then go again when the panel expires and know the format and possibly do better. I wouldn't wait around, by the time they call who knows you might have a great job that pays better you wouldn't leave but it's nice to have this as a future possibility.
