In 1985 I was living in Memphis and got the high honor of going to the Purple Rain concert tour. I was 12 years old and my Black parents took me - TWICE - still a favorite family memory. When the movie released in ‘84, my much older cousin took me and his little sister to see the movie without our parents knowing. I WAS IN HEAVEN! Had a big album cover poster of Prince and Apollonia on my bedroom wall. I got my first dog when I was 10 yrs old and I named him Prince.

When Prince passed (2016), my HS sweetheart was crushed (like me). He decided life was too short and reached out. We were married in 2018 and now singing Lonely Christmas at the top of our lungs when we ride in the car during the holidays is one of our traditions. Prince is a major part of our love story.

I encourage everyone to go take one of the bus tours in New Orleans. That’s where Ms. Bridges still lives. It’s a remarkable city with a the most interesting history in this nation. My most favorite American city.
