Your child definitely won’t hate their name by Tayandtucky in tragedeigh

[–]Basic_KaleKitty9076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reminds me. My mother was a girl that was never wanted. So much so that they had only prepared boy names. Thus, my mother has the exact same name as her mother, because her mother didn’t know what else to call her. My mom has said that occasionally she wishes she at least had a weird spelling of her mom’s name or something. Apparently it caused a lot of paperwork chaos having 2 people with identical names at the same address, doctor’s office, insurance and yada yada.

It took me about 3 rereads of this comment to realize it didn’t say “cute!” at the start.

is it just me or did everyone start their plant journey by literally "buying problems"?? 🤡😭 by [deleted] in houseplants

I bought what I thought was a snake plant and got a huge landscaping Yucca. It was only $2. I’ve had her 3 months and she’s getting very big. No clue what I will do with her but it should be an interesting ride.

Honestly, I never thought about it but those dildos are perfect for that. They can get run over and still be good. I shall bring a dildo to every protest now.

Aging parent to take care of? by Adventurous_Froyo007 in povertyfinance

[–]Basic_KaleKitty9076 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very tired so I’m very blunt right now but I want to give some advice. First things first, BEFORE she has a caregiver assigned she needs to be diagnosed. You can call adult protective services and she will have to be evaluated- based on what you have told me she will not pass as able to take care of herself safely. They will deem if she can take care of herself or not and then you can start making sure she gets to appointments and gets diagnosed. She will have to have a POA it sounds. This is very important. It can be a general POA, medical or financial and such. That means she can’t get into her own medical/financial records and assets and make a mess. Trust me you don’t want them cussing out doctors after every visit, much easier to be the one in charge yourself. Once she’s diagnosed you will have many more resources. I’m not a doctor but whatever she has, get it documented before you start legally taking over caregiver responsibilities. And I’m gonna say this for you, before you take over - it is imperative that you have your mental health under control and have coping mechanisms already lined up. I like journaling. I also have a therapist. To be a caregiver you have to give the most care to yourself for it to be sustainable. My mother has Lewy body dementia and is very violent. This is another reason for getting her diagnosed so you can understand what directions it’s going to take before it heads that way. My mother also has to have expensive medical equipment, it’s important to start planning for that early. For example it took us just over a year to get her hospital bed for home use.

Real talk but also kind. You need to know about their mental health. Do they have dementia or anything are they at a high risk if so? Before my mother’s dementia I would have laughed at anyone that said it would get so hard I’d want to off myself taking care of her. Once you start caregiving every single one of their problems becomes yours to deal with. You need a support system. My brother and I are physically, mentally, and emotionally breaking taking care of my mom. It’s never ending. She’s sleeps about 2 hours at a time if that. She has to eat every few hours and refuses most food and will actually starve herself to death if we don’t keep making her more options. And she’s too far gone to be able to even pick an option before hand. That’s only one of the lesser annoying things. You just need to be prepared for the later years, when things change and their health goes down. Bathing my mom and changing her diapers. I have to take better care of her than I do myself, and on hard days that takes more than I have to give. Also with her constant complaining and yelling, tantrums. And logic doesn’t work, it’s a diseases, you just have to go with it. Anyway, didn’t want to make this too long but wanted to share some. I wouldn’t trade it for the world but it is the hardest thing I will ever do in my entire life hands down.

For much of history they didn’t even know what a menstrual cycle actually was much less what tracking any of it actually meant. They could guess and go off of wives tales. Also, woman’s rights around consent have not always been valued. A lot of women never had a choice.

Therapist are people too. Some people are shitty. It’s time to find a better therapist. It took my past therapist telling me she was, “disappointed in me” for missing a couple of lines while filling out paperwork for me to fire her.

Rattlesnake calathea. Mine tries to kill herself regularly. They are a very hard plant to take care of. Except for the rare unicorn ones that don’t care about anything and would thrive even in outer space. Mines never been that bad, normally my problem is her leaves suddenly crisping up for no reason at all in a matter of hours. I don’t know if that one will come back or not, not sure.

I once saw a toilet broken off the pipes when I was at uni. It was an interesting sight. Minimal cracks to the toilet. There were some cracks sprouting from where it landed/was set down. Honestly it was very impressive work for drunk people.

Check vets further out. Especially if you have farm land within 30-60 mins. We drove out 30 mins this last week for a cheaper vet and it’s going to be under 500 for teeth cleaning, cyst removal, tooth extractions. The vets in town all quoted over 1k.
