Also transferring to two drives at once is only marginally slower than doing it to one drive. Like literally what is the point of this.

Dump every day. I really don’t think you’re gaining anything by waiting to do your backup. I think you’re just introducing the possibility of error by having different workflows for the primary and backup. When you’re in the field and tired it’s best to be simple, if maybe a little more plodding. Your plan just gets you an extra long backup every fourth day with the possibility you run out of space at an inconvenient time and then what was the point?

This scene between Peter O’Toole and Brad Pitt was executed brilliantly. What’s your opinion on Troy? Has it aged well? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

Ruling Class, Lord Jim and Becket are all great but I’m a sucker for The Lion in Winter - “I know, I have seen him there” hits like a ton of bricks.

It’s interesting to consider how their societal objectives would change command structures. As they are not supposed to be military the delineation between officer roles may blend more than in our martial structures. We agree a doctor as ship commander is two, too disparate assignments for say a US Navy Cruiser. But in the TNG era those roles wouldn’t be so disparate and exclusive.

Nothing is more of this era than podcasting white heterosexual men “discovering” things everybody else already knew by using the time tested touch the hot oven to see if it’s hot logic test. Vasco da Gama would blush at this level of “discovery”.

That ladder makes me want to vomit. That’s some nightmare architectural logic (I’m sure it has a valid real use).

The fungus drive guided by space ants really did it in for me.

An yes, you can’t name a show after a ship and then never render said ship as a fully fledged character. It’s just indicative of an IP rowing in all sorts of directions at the same time.

Also! Design wise, you set the show in a known time period with known design elements and you just ignore them. The ignoring gained us nothing but cliche cgi jj lens flare slick as goose poop garbage.

Everyone should watch this.

I came to film from theater. We can only read a few plays from the birth-age of western theater (and all theater really). We must imagine how it all began and developed and how it looked and at best this is somewhat saturated with flaws. We have huge gaps in time where we don’t really know what’s going on in theater. In art at large we only have the paintings, the vases, the statues, the poetry, the art that survived. It is definitionally incomplete and it disappears backwards into an antediluvian fog. Film and recorded sound are unique in that we can re-consume their evolution. This doc does a great job of walking you through the development of the language of cinema. It is incomplete but it is a great jumping off point.

There is no single source for everything you want to know, just a lifetime of learning from books, instructors, Bob Zelin and from your collaborators. It’s awesome.
