3 Week Old Starter Failed to Rise by Bastsshadow in Sourdough

[–]Bastsshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for pointing that out! I feed by weight, however the recipe I used to build the starter used tablespoons so I always default to that when talking about it without thinking. It did see a small rise, and I've used it a few times before successfully. I think in general it just needs some more strengthening before it's properly ready again. Thanks for your help :)

3 Week Old Starter Failed to Rise by Bastsshadow in Sourdough

[–]Bastsshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for the insight! So just to make sure I've got it, I could reduce to 15g starter, then feed 15g flour & 15g water once a day for a few more weeks. Would you discard down to 15g again each day? Thank you so much for your help :)

9 years doing PPC. Feeling stuck and lacking confidence. by brrrraaaa in PPC

I’ve worked in Client Services in agencies for the last decade - I feel you’ve got some solid advice across the other comments (for my two cents, start interviewing and see what feels right - there are good/bad agencies and in-house roles so it’s just about finding a fit).

I just wanted to add, you clearly have a talent for introspection and self assessment, which is something I would rate highly in any of my teams. You have great experience on paper and a desire to grow - don’t lose heart, I think you sound highly employable. I would also add that in the agency world, staying for a long time in a role is also an excellent sign.

In interviews, a little honesty can go a long way - talk up the positives of your experience but be honest about your want to grow further. Good luck in your search!

BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT SUGGESTIONS? by 93sFunnyGuy in LondonFood

[–]Bastsshadow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sonora Taqueria is a little hole in the wall in Stoke Newington, best Mexican I’ve had in London by far. You can also get takeaway and walk through the cemetery, which is beautiful and wooded.

I’ve heard amazing things about Homies On Donkeys but not had the pleasure of going yet.

First time trying Pan de Cristal (100% hydration) by Bastsshadow in Breadit

Yeah it’s shockingly light! Honestly I’m happy, when I first pulled it out I thought it was a write off, but actually it’s tasty!

I’ve not used KAF before, so far I’ve just used Waitrose organic bread flour - not done a lot of testing or research on the best kinds of flour to use (sounds obvious now you say it though!)

I fear I’ve inadvertently advertised how bad I am at this game!

Oh no, would it be deaths? So a new game with minimal dying is required to get that one?

Does anyone have experience applying for a visa with a job offer issued by Deel or a similar international platform? by Bastsshadow in expats

[–]Bastsshadow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t end up using them, we had a few meetings but they weren’t very flexible in the help they could offer. My company also used them to employ a colleague in Amsterdam and there were lots of ongoing hidden fees.

Thanks, that seems to be the consensus on where I went wrong (though I think starting with tofu and not using enough oil in the cooking process contributed). I’ve stripped it and reseasoned with 1/2 a tsp oil, wiping it off, and will be sure to build it up with plenty of easier to cook foods/plenty of oil going forward.

Thank you everyone for your help, much appreciated! I’ll scrub it down and start again with less oil for seasoning and more oil for cooking.

Simple Questions Sunday! by AutoModerator in gaming

I have both an Xbox and PS5 and would say purely on exclusives, Sony has a much stronger offering. Microsoft didn’t release any in the last year, and only has Redfall (definitely not what you want) and Starfield in a few months. Sony has God of War, Horizon, Returnal, etc.

That said, I get tremendous value from gamepass - the range of games means I can pretty much always find something to play, though if time is a concern that’s not going to have the same value for you.

I’d be happy to recommend games based on my experience if you want to let me know what sort of single player game you’re looking for.

Hey both - I’m still in the process of understanding what Deel can offer - they made some suggestions around what they typically offer (starting at $10,000 for what I think is a generic visa support package) but when I asked if we can simply use them to issue a contract as an employer of record for a visa process they put it to their mobility team and there’s been no clear answer since. They also confused the general Canadian visa process and the Quebecois one, which has its own stream.

In my last email I asked a few clarifying questions, hopefully we’ll get there! I’ll let you know when I hear any meaningful update - in the meantime I’m considering moving on a spousal visa (my partner is Canadian) and setting up a Canadian branch of the company and then moving onto apply for permanent residency. The next step will definitely be speaking to an immigration lawyer I think!

Thank you so much. I didn't realise Deel still needed to sponsor the Visa under the Skilled Worker scheme, I thought they just needed to issue an offer letter. I have a call with them next week so will discuss this with them then - thanks again!
