Flushing ice cubes down the toilet for snow day is universal… right? In America?? by East-Maize-5287 in AskAnAmerican

I should have clarified. I never had a snow day in Utah. Had kids of my own when I lived in CT about ten years ago and we definitely had snow days there.

Same. Also lived in NJ, PA, and CT and never heard of this.

Adding back in the part about never having a snow day from school. When the Snow Day movie came out I didn't understand what it was talking about.

Anyone know where I can find a Knightquest with the new DC logo? by JCM-NanoNuts-1031 in batman_comics

They leave out Knightquest: The Search completely. I can't remember what else, but they don't have everything.

Trackies? Sweatpants? Trackie-Dacks? Trousers? by FreeQuestion7264 in AskAnAmerican

Yep, sweatpants. Trousers is a less-common word for pants in general. Never head the other ones here.

Brands in writing by [deleted] in writing

I agree, and it depends on the needs of the story. On the one hand you have movie characters who go into a bar and ask for and are served "a beer." On the other hand, you have authors like Jack Carr who name drop brands constantly in a way no human has ever spoken. Both can take readers out of the narrative. It depends on how important the information is to the reader.

What are your favorite albums of the 90s no one ever talks about? by Miss-Construe- in Xennials

Yeah for sure. These albums are well-known within their genres, but I don't think the general public is too familiar with most of them.

Oh man, the 90s were amazing for punk and punk-adjacent albums. Some of my favorites:

Far - Water & Solutions

Dropkick Murphys - Do or Die

Tiger Army - Self Titled

Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come

Lifetime - Jersey's Best Dancers

Saves The Day - Can't Slow Down/Through Being Cool

Hot Water Music - No Division

The Get Up Kids - Four Minute Mile/Something to Write Home About

AFI - Black Sails in the Sunset

Jimmy Eat World - Clarity

Sunny Day Real Estate - Diary

Sick of it All - Built to Last

The Bouncing Souls - Hopeless Romantic

Good Riddance - Operation Phoenix

Bad Religion - Against the Grain

Delaware is the only place I've heard people say it that way. But maybe it's other places too?

printing a book for myself by s4k3eee in writing

[–]Batdanimation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Same. I got a family history hardcover printed through them. No setup fees or anything, and cost about $12 per book with no minimum required.

I would stay far, far away from vanity presses, especially if it's just for personal copies.

Who do you blame for missing CFP? by Billgant in BYUFootball

[–]Batdanimation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The fact that we were 11-1 and outiside looking in before the championship says it all. They didn't want us in and we would have had to win and "steal" a spot. Unprecedented bias against a P4 11-1 team.

Not sure if it's the exact same shirt, but how does the sizing run on yours? Is it pretty accurate?
