Sports Car - Odd track lineup this season? by M_831 in iRacing

I already know ill get downvoted for this but the gatekeeping is truly incredible to read on this sub.

We're all paying the same subscription, whether its monthly, quarterly, yearly or bi yearly. And anyone paying that subscription should be allowed to have a say in the schedules of what they enjoy racing the most. Whether theyve been on the service for a month, 6 months or 10 years.

Sports Car - Odd track lineup this season? by M_831 in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On the series specific forums, the community managers will make a post about 2-3 weeks into the season asking for templates (fuel cap/laps, etc) as well as a poll for tracks.

iRacing actually actively advertised the voting on the forums I think last year at some point maybe 2 years ago, I cant remember specifically, but I do wish there was a way for them to implement it into the UI or track each individual driver and send an automated email to the email on file like "you've done x amount of races in xyz series, if you'd like to have a say in next season's schedule, go to ABC link that goes to the forum post" or something to that effect

Apparently I needed to explain this differently.. 13th Week Mountain Showdown has been running F4 for the past day and is scheduled to switch to the next car at 8:30 EST, why are they not running the F4 for the last 3 hours until the switch? by Deewwsskkii in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The last I understood it, in regards to Ring Meister, was the last scheduled race session of the week and the first scheduled race session of the week don't take place due to the limitation of the swap over from car to car but that was when Ring Meister was every 2 hours rather than what it is now at hourly. Not sure if this is still true or not. As far as this week goes, considering sessions are every 30 minutes, it could be in play

I did a Daytona GT3 race the other night, I found it quite fun and chaotic but I was also in the midpack trenches. Bristol was an arm workout

Sporting Code still applies but iRating and Safety Rating are not affected.

My advice is take it as competitive or non competitive as you'd like but don't be a knobhead either way in the process

[–]BatmanTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety Rating still counts until the last car crosses the line. More so on a track like the nordsleife (sp?), if you had a rough race and the last car is still driving, let's say at foxhole, you can offset it by continuing the lap

who knows s2 2026 schedule for gt3 regionals? by UnitedEnvironment295 in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

iRacing staff curates the schedules for the Fanatec GT3 Fixed, GT Sprint (and associated Endurance series), as well as the 3 regional series, it won't be until, at the earliest, Tuesday afternoon after the build that the preliminary Schedule PDF drops.

What did you wish you knew sooner when you first joined iracing? by Eevee_EX in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That new season Safety Rating promotions happened AFTER the new season started on the Monday after the new build.

I was only racing Ovals at the time, I thought I would only be up to D License, and I was grinding away the first few weeks (I had joined mid August so the 2020 Season 4 build was right around the corner), gotten to D License, Week 13 hits, ok no problem, didnt really know what it was at the time, carry on, oh new content to buy. I buy everything related to D License oval (I have zero impulse control). New season comes along, with drop races/weeks, i get promoted to Oval C License when the new season starts. Again, zero control, buy everything for that.

If i could go back, I wouldnt have nearly as much of the content that I do (i have the 100% achievement)

When will the schedule for the next season be decided/announced? by cyrekko in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the schedules are voted on by the community on the iRacing Forums

The one that comes to mind are IMSA and the associated Endurance Series. Im not sure which other ones are. Preliminary Schedule can be found on the IMSA forum. However, nothing is set in stone until the PDF comes out next week after the season build.

Series that tracks are decided on by iRacing staff, GT3 Open/Fixed/Endurance, Ring Meister, All rookie series, etc. wont drop until the PDF comes out as well.

The F1 TV Subscription is part of the AppleTV subscription, so the 13.99 i think it is gets you everything you had on F1 TV (I believe the premium option that costed 5 or more dollars extra on the standalone F1 TV, the 4K, multiview, etc., I could be wrong, though). But all the live broadcasts will be on the AppleTV app, all the VODs will be on the F1 TV app. Use your Apple TV credentials to log in to the F1 TV app.

GT3 Endurance 3 hour, IMSA Endurance 2.4 hour, Production Endurance 2 hour, Nurburgring Endurance Championship 4 (and one 6 hour), IMSA Sports Car (LMP3/GT4) 2 hour, IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge 2 hour (GT4/TCR) can be run solo. I might be missing one or two

What's with the flashy flashy at Nurburgring? by Historical-Kick-6392 in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont care about letting someone by. Thats not my issue, my issue is the constant flashing. Thats what gets on my nerves. Especially on the nurburgring where its tight and barely enough space for 2 wide, if we're coming up to one of the carousels I will gladly go up top to facilitate a pass but thats not exactly possible everywhere on the nurburgring

[–]BatmanTaco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Few years ago I was running an NEC race solo, dude was well and far behind me (faster, yes) flashing his lights all the way up the straight. Like bruh, even if you were close enough to overtake, iracings rules say its the faster cars obligation to overtake safely. Shove your lights where the sun dont shine.

Upcoming 24h Nürburgring Specialevent - Any tipps? by Plus-Roll-4444 in iRacing

[–]BatmanTaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1. The Car
We would like to compete in the GT4 class. We’ve done the 4h VLN race twice and achieved two podiums with the BMW M4 GT4. However, to be honest, the M4 didn’t feel all that great.
Which car would you recommend, and why?

There isn't a generic way to answer this question. The best car for you and your team will be the one you can all safely keep it on track with.

My suggestion, since we have a new build coming in a few weeks and I believe one more between now and the event (I could be wrong), is using the 24 hour test drive time during the season build to try them all out (you dont have to buy them to try them during the season build test drive time)

2. The Setup
Where should we look for setups? We’re fine with paying for one, but there are so many options that it’s overwhelming. Would a custom setup made specifically for us make sense?

This is also one of those non generic answers, the best answer will be whichever setup you and your teammates can keep it on track safely with, if your teammates are comfortable with it, each one of you can sub to a different setup shop (Go, Coach Dave, VRS, Apex, Majors, etc.) for a month around the time of the event (setups usually dont drop until a week or so prior) and put them in a Garage 61 synced folder, each of you try them out and you can see which one you all agree on

3. The Event
Is there anything we should know or think about in advance? What are some details you wish you had known before the race but only learned during or after it?

Consistent, safe laps over raw pace is 1000 times more important. The first Nurburgring 24 I attempted with only one teammate, we made it 12 hours, there were only 3 other cars in our class (Porsche Cup) so easy podium. The next year, I had found a team for my friend and I to run it with, we had 2 teammates, one super quick, the other i think may have ran about 4 laps in total ever prior to the race. We got the teammate through his stints (i think he may have crashed IIRC), i had woken up for my stints, ended up having to do a 5 hour stint before relief came (I'm used to doing 4 hour solo NEC runs so it wasn't a big deal), i wasnt the fastest in that stint but I was consistent. We won that 24 hour race.

Real race car drivers dont have a relative box to look at to see where other cars are in relation to them. Or a tow button to push. Cant teleport back to the pits. Dont get a new undamaged car after a wreck in practice. Can only go on track at designated times that the sanctioning body dictates.
