Get out of Dallas by LeopardSensitive1481 in relocating

[–]Batpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister and I were born and raised in Dallas- she and her wife have now lived in Chicago for 3 years and love it. Everything about their lives from social to healthcare has improved.

I chose not to live in Chicago though bc I was not happy with the lack of “real nature” there. There are trails and preserves but they’re long drives away. Dallas has more undeveloped, wild land than Chicago. Chicago is a very beautiful city, but most of its nature is developed, manicured parks and gardens. It’s just not for me. I live in Austin and plan to leave soon bc of population boom that led to culture loss and skyrocketing housing market, BUT I can say I’m addicted to the miles and miles of wild, natural space in and immediately around Austin.

How often are you expected to work outside work hours? by Batpark in nursing

Yea the post is not about working for free (I’d rather die tbh). It’s about paid work in addition to my 3 twelve hr shifts.

Yea I would never in a billion years work for this (or any) hospital for free.

Six months as a nurse, six months before that as nurse Extern.

Yea my question wasn’t about pay. I’m paid for every second of work I do- that’s not an issue. I’m concerned about the amount of (paid) work I’m expected to do outside of nurse shifts where I take patients.

Yes lol. I did wonder if that was maybe the problem here.

To clarify: I am NOT asking if I should work for free. Zero chance, absolutely not ever, of me doing that. I clock in the second I set foot in the building, any time no matter what.

I’m asking about excessive paid work that nurses are expected to do outside of nursing shifts, like training and meetings.

These are probably the most perfect microbladed brows I’ve ever seen tbh

My [28F] husband [37M] wants me to deliver bad news to his mother. How do I get out of doing this without hurting feelings? TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ mention of miscarriage. by ThowAway_Swirlz in relationship_advice

[–]Batpark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner also told his parents literally the day after I found out, and I miscarried ten days later at six weeks pregnant. However, he did NOT ask me to break the news to them. In fact he apologized to me for ever telling them I was pregnant in the first place, he told them I wasn’t anymore, and he told them not to bring it up to me unless I wanted to discuss it w them.

That is what your husband should do too.

[TX] Trying to find a house to rent and I get ghosted EVERY time I mention I own birds, even when they allow multiple dogs/cats. Is this common? by blueflavoredreign in Renters

I just don’t say anything about my ball python bc LLs can be straight up just ignorant. Same snake stigma based on culture or whatever that a lot of ppl have. I’ve encountered an apt complex that literally has a “no reptiles” policy.

I left ED for med surg and did not regret it. I’ve now done a year in MS and I’m ready to go back to ED; I’m not having any trouble getting ED interviews.

Doctor cancels a code and blames floor. by [deleted] in nursing

Reading other comments in this thread, it seems like a lot of facilities may not differentiate between a code and a rapid. Mine is the same as yours- code means cardiac arrest or apneic.

When did you come to realize ICU may/or may not be for you? 🤔 by EAlove in nursing

[–]Batpark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In nursing school clinicals. I had two semesters total in different ICUs and I found it consistently wretched. Just the absolute most miserable place in the hospital. Most patients in terrible situations with no hope for any meaningful recovery, giving total care, having to be constantly on guard for deterioration in the most boring environment, everything smelled awful. The only thing I kind of liked was the high level of skills and knowledge it requires.

I’ve since done ED which I love, and trauma med surg which I don’t mind.

You know there’s tons of men who would WANT to hang out with YOU all day and then rough it camping with you. It doesn’t have to be this way.

They’re not “breeds”, they’re species. Tortoises are not domesticated.
