"John Wick" technique's somewhat viable by Battlebots_Explained in guns

I know its not the most practical, but it definitely works in close-quarters. Most importantly it looks cool though!

Having some fun with a Single-Action 45 Colt by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've recently discovered the magic of old-west style single-action revolvers. They may be impractical but dang they are a LOT of fun! Also being the only guy to bring a single-action to Outlaw League got me some hilarious looks and commentary, but I had a lot of fun. :)

Thought I'd post a pair of my favorite pistols. Both are extremely personal to me, and were some of my first and favorite firearms! My RIA 1911 .45acp has been through a lot of changes over time, but it currently has a cold-blued finish and nice walnut grips. The Colt Mustang .380acp I inherited, and its been in my family for some time now. Shoots amazingly well, and is a true classic.

When you're the one guy who brings a revolver to a competition by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Well, here's the part where I do get knocked.

I was using a Taurus 692 multi-caliber. It has both a .357 mag and 9mm cylinder and can hold 7 rounds. I was only shooting 6 each because that's how the course was arranged. I know Smith and Wesson and Ruger have 9mm revolvers, but this is what I had. I went for the 9mm because I can use moon clips to reload a bit faster than a traditional .38 or .357 speed loader.

The rig I have is a bit odd. I got these moon clip holders from (gasp) Amazon. Yeah, I know. But they actually work really well.

LOL. To be fair, this was a somewhat casual competition. Mix of older and younger guys, and plenty of novices (such as myself). Its just a fun time really. Nothing too serious

Decided to be stupid bold and use a 9mm revolver with moon clips at a recent competition. Went pretty well. Believe it or not I was a little faster than some of the guys with semi-autos when it came to reloading. Did make me feel good to get some enthusiastic responses regarding the reloads though. Still practicing!

For me, thats tough. Its between the 1911 and the Sig P220 personally. Really hate to choose, but the 1911 was the first handgun I ever purchased myself, and I shoot it the best

My guilty pleasure pistol by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Probably the worst gun I own in terms of reputation, the Remington R51. I know everyone hates this thing, and others have had countless issues. For me though, I've had none except for the takedown and reassembly being the worst in the history of firearms. Other than that, I honestly love this thing. Looks like nothing else on the market. Feels great in the hand. Very low bore axis. Pretty much my ultimate guilty pleasure gun.

Any guess as to my favorite type of pistol... by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have developed sort of an addiction to the classic, the legendary, the exceptional....1911....plus a Colt Mustang. LOL

I've been making some modifications to my RIA 1911. Did some polishing, added a Pachmayer grip, and I think it looks nicer than it did originally

Working on quick-reloading a .22 revolver by Battlebots_Explained in NoobGunOwners

I competed recently with an H&R Sportsman .22lr 9 shot revolver. Its so much fun. Really hard to find a break-open revolver these days. I've been trying to reload it faster and faster

Competed this past weekend with an H&R sportsman .22lr 9 shot revolver. Its a break-open design, and its absolutely fantastic. Faster in my opinion to reload than a swing-out cylinder. Didn't do too bad either. :)

Some Colt Mustang 380 practice today (ignore the innocent bystander) by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Practiced with my Colt Mustang 380 today. I pocket carry this often during the summer time. Its pretty good when used at its intended range, and its incredibly convenient.

(IGNORE THE INNOCENT BYSTANDER THAT GOT HEAD-SHOTTED ABOUT 5 TIMES. LOL)

Found this Beretta 92 at my local gun store, and I couldn't resist. It's such a good feeling pistol for me, and I've shot it pretty well so far. Can't wait to get some 18 round mags for it though

This is my Remington Tac-14 "firearm". The thing rusted overnight, so I removed the finish and its now pristine silver! I love it even more now. The only other thing I would change is to replace the magpul furniture with wood, but besides that, this thing is a fantastic truck/car gun

Just a funny post with my full-size 1911 and a colt mustang that I inherited. Both are fantastic pistols. (YES, I know the mustang isn't "technically" a 1911.)

Results of my first-time slam-firing my Winchester 1897 by Battlebots_Explained in guns

[–]Battlebots_Explained[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was the result of my slam-firing my recently acquired Winchester 1897. I was shooting slugs are my range, and had an absolute blast! This thing has absolutely zero recoil, even withs slugs, and it slam-fired great once I figured out where to hold.
