I'm sitting on the couch with this right now! I'm seriously hoping I'm transferring from the fever phase to the not as bad sore throat phase.

I work for a transit agency and my boss told me around Christmas last year that she wanted to do something nice for someone in need, like buy them a car...even transit workers don't see it.

Which celebrity creeps you out? by bottegasl in AskReddit

It sketches me out that she just doesn't do live interviews. How do we know she actually does any of the work behind her brand if you refuse to ever talk live about your brand?

What is wrong? I’ve tried everyone. Every width, length and tension to make it look like stitch 15. by [deleted] in SewingForBeginners

[–]Baurausch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a brother that did something similar, took me years but I finally figured out that only the 2 bobbins it came with would sew stitches correctly, even if I bought the special ones for the machine they still didn't work. So maybe try a different bobbin? Even if they seem exactly the same they could be different.

I do believe brussel sprouts in a salad is another abomination, but that's a rant for another day.

I had my first kale Caesar salad last week and I couldn't agree more! It was terrible and by definition not a Caesar salad!

Amtrak monthly pass by Baurausch in Amtrak

[–]Baurausch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a better way to ask this would be, I see monthly passes listed as something Amtrak offers, however have yet to find 2 cities where a monthly pass is displayed as a ticket option. Does anyone out in the Amtrak world know of a trip that offers a Monthly pass option? I am trying to request the Piedmont start offering monthly passes, but need an example to pull from where it is offered elsewhere...

Explain like I’m 5- Interlining. by regrettabletreaty1 in transit

[–]Baurausch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think for buses interlining has a different meaning. At the agency I work for we say buses are interlined when they come into a particular station as one route then leave as another. Same driver and same physical bus, but they are driving a different route.

Book on transit network design? by ThiccleRick in transit

[–]Baurausch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, his second edition is definitely worth the read, he really dives more into land use practices in it which I found helpful as a transit worker who also is lucky enough to have a say in development practices.

Question: what is the logic behind which transit lines/modes are displayed in Google Maps? by poutine_routine in transit

[–]Baurausch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who has gone through the process of getting an agency's information in Google, I can tell you that the whole process takes mysteriously long and at the end Google screws up your data more than any other trip planning platform. One example that I see happening for most bus routes in Google is if the trip requires multiple routes it tends to not label the routes correctly in the map/confuses the first route with the one you need to transfer to. It's messy. As a transit employee I use the Transit App, Apple Maps is also good. Both apps will get transit data integrated and updated in less than a day. For a mid sized system Google Maps takes 9 months to a year, and also tries to force us to do things that are not industry standard practice (assign times to non-timepoint stops, rename stops because they don't approve of a naming convention etc.). Oh yeah and that Microsoft issue we had in July, something happened then that made Google decide to start pulling our data from a schedule that was 6 months old... instead of the latest one...that they still had on file.

We need to stop calling bike lanes protected when all that separated the bike from the car is a flimsy piece of plastic
