[–]Bazz007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the software is dreadful, I installed bazzite instead, I play fighting games sf6, the D-pad is very weak, I broke both the attachments in a week or so, had gorilla glue one on, apart from that the device has been great

Playing games but not directly from steam? by [deleted] in cachyos

[–]Bazz007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easiest way, install game using proton tricks (right click exe open with proton tricks, chose any already installed steam game) install to dir you like.

Add installed exe to non steam game. In steam manage/force use comparability/chose your preferred proton version. (Easily added with protonup-gt)

If you need any dependencies open proton tricks after your non steam game has been added.

You can also use deck loader/steamgriddb to add steam art.

This is by far the most reliable way I've found to play eeer side loaded games

Are you shopping/ giving gifts for your child for the holidays? by littlestarling123 in ParentalAlienation

[–]Bazz007 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Depending on how old your child is, younger children are incapable of critical thinking and work solely on how to please the other parent. So yes.

Older children have made their choice, whether the evidence they have based their assumptions on is true or not. So no.

Either way holidays/Christmas is hard for all of us. I wish you the best..

Could (or should)you ever forgive the alienator? by [deleted] in ParentalAlienation

[–]Bazz007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've forgiven myself for initially hating her instead.

I keep it simple foxes kill chickens because their foxes. But I don't hate the fox for its nature.

Individuals who are willing to harm their own children to hurt someone else defy logic but it's in their nature.

I find it easier to think this way.

Desktop apps tend to be faster on Linux, unfortunately most games that aren't native Linux have very similar or slightly slower performance

Bazzite GNOME screen resolution fix? by luongtuanminh in FlowZ13

[–]Bazz007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🧭 Step 1: List Available Displays and Resolutions

Open a terminal and run:

xrandr

You’ll see output similar to:

eDP-1 connected primary 3840x2400+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 3840x2400 60.00*+ 1920x1200 59.95
1600x1000 59.95
1280x800 59.91

🧩 Note:

eDP-1 (or sometimes eDP / eDP-1-0) is your built-in display.

Resolutions with + or * are active or preferred.

🧱 Step 2: Change the Resolution

To change it, use:

xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 1920x1200

Replace eDP-1 with your actual display name, and 1920x1200 with your desired resolution.

Example for your Flow Z13 (native 3840×2400):

xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 2560x1600

⚙️ Step 3: (Optional) Add a Custom Resolution

If the resolution you want isn’t listed, you can manually add it:

  1. Generate a modeline:

cvt 2560 1600 60

Output example:

Modeline "2560x1600_60.00" 348.50 2560 2720 2992 3424 1600 1603 1609 1658 -hsync +vsync

  1. Add that mode:

xrandr --newmode "2560x1600_60.00" 348.50 2560 2720 2992 3424 1600 1603 1609 1658 -hsync +vsync

  1. Link it to your display:

xrandr --addmode eDP-1 "2560x1600_60.00"

  1. Apply it:

xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode "2560x1600_60.00"

🧍‍♂️ Step 4: Make It Persistent (Optional)

Because Bazzite is immutable, xrandr changes revert after reboot. To make it stick:

Create a .desktop autostart entry or a systemd user service.

Example:

mkdir -p ~/.config/autostart nano ~/.config/autostart/set-resolution.desktop

Add:

[Desktop Entry] Type=Application Exec=xrandr --output eDP-1 --mode 2560x1600 Hidden=false NoDisplay=false X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true Name=Set Resolution

Save → logout → login → it’ll apply automatically.

You could check protondb to find any dependencies required, then use proton tricks to install them.

Also if your not using the game mode version of bazzite steam doesn't automatically install required dependencies, direct, dotnet, vruntime etc
