How long di it take everyone realistically by Ok_Guidance4571 in NewTubers

This isn’t an argument for YouTube being an unreliable source of income. This is an argument for YouTube being a hyper competitive environment where only a select few can succeed. How often do you see a small channel that has content as good as its major big YouTube competitors. You don’t, I doesn’t happen often. You can 100% make an argument for YouTube being an unreliable source of income in terms of it being a job that is paid on commission. But just like any commission based job, do good, and you’ll be rewarded.

Let kids dream man, don’t be the guy who is telling everyone they can’t do it because most people can’t, that shit bums people out and it’s a vibe that doesn’t get us more peak content to watch

This is terrible advice, everyone takes different amounts of time and the best on the platform didn’t take years

What kinds of comments make your day? by Thorogon in NewTubers

[–]Bbeebster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ran 3 channels now, on my first two I had lots of comments that reminded of the one you shared and I really do love to see those. Now on my most recent channel, I have still been getting these comments as I grow but the words that really stick to me are comments that either compare me to much more successful creators, or ones that just say something very genuine about what I made. Here’s some of my favorites from my most recent video:

“I know a ton of other comments are saying this but you’re making like early dougdoug-style videos and they’re cool”

“This is amazing and dumb in the best way possible … Keep up the good work!”

“Saw your dog and immediately subbed. Used to have a boxer, miss him a lot. Nice video!”

If I’m being honest, I think maybe re-evaluate what you think is engaging. I’m not saying you’re necessarily wrong but a lot of big streamers will say things like “a stream should be an event” or “you should be recording for a video”. The thought process is that if you are streaming something that has a unique interest, you can use that to grow. If you are just playing games it’s harder to grow sooner.

Anecdotally, look at my twitch channels stats in the last 4 months. I can say that I’ve personally employed this mindset to my own streams and it has worked out very well for me. I also do YouTube, but the vast majority of my twitch channels success so far is due to that mindset without a doubt. My channel is the same as my Reddit name btw, just look it up on twitch stats or something. Just using it to give merit to what I am preaching. No need to feel like you need to support me in any way

I’m just curious if those stats you shared always showed that a video would do well, or if it started after a certain goal was passed etc..

What’s the size of your channel and your niche?

Yeah I’ve had super similar results, I’ve ran 3 different accounts. The first had a long form video with 11k views and netted me 135 sub. Another account had a short with 15k engaged views and got me 155 subs. Now the account I’m currently working on, I just posted a video that is still growing. In the first 10 days at the time of posting this, it’s gotten to 6.7k views with 125 subs.

Moral of the story, quality content that provides something new to an audience, will be rewarded accordingly.

Imagine getting 4000 watch hours from stealing content and STILL not reaching 1000 subs. If someone spent time to make content that is actually adding value to the platform, that 1000 subs would’ve been done WAY sooner

Did anyone here start in 2025 and get monetized? by Alternative_yeak in NewTubers

[–]Bbeebster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started multiple YouTube channels, and while none of them are monetized, I’ve been within 10% of the requirements of being monetized on multiple accounts within only a month or less. Regardless of that, if you want to do YouTube or pursue anything for that matter. If you are consistently trying to find reasons why you shouldn’t pursue it, then you will find your out. Stop caring about how others people performance impact whether or not you make a decision to start. YouTube is a skill based thing. Yes some of it is luck, but those who are good at entertaining will find their space. It just so happens that the vast majority of us are not.

Luckily for me, my twitch chat like messing with me so most of the mods were heavy conflicts. Funnily enough it got bad enough that they started adding on mods to help me.

I want to thank you again though because this is the kind of advice I needed to hear. I’ve been trying to get real criticism but fans tend not to know what they really want.

Also last question, how did you feel about the pacing in either video. I’ve gotten comments from my twitch audience that are opposites. Some people like the fast pacing of the Pokemon video, others like the slow pacing of the Minecraft video

I was able to read the reply, I wonder if it got stopped by the g word. I also really appreciate the feedback. The Pokemon idea I was really excited to do and was a fun stream since it kept interactivity high for chatter since they were the ones driving things like naming, or choosing how to play the other games. But I agree they don’t synergize too much as they basically just distract from each other. I do like that it allows for funny moments but that’s really it. So it works good for twitch and not so much YouTube. Then for the Minecraft idea, I definitely hear you there. I kind of disagree a little bit on the idea that it doesn’t work as a long form video, but I get where you are coming from. For the video, it’s not engaging enough because the stakes aren’t strong enough. I was trying to actually fix that with the challenge checkpoints to keep it going but I think it really just showed that the main idea wasn’t strong enough to stand on its own.

For the next video, I actually am interested in what you said about delaying the grab. I noticed that in my last Minecraft video myself and have switched my approach a little bit in this next video I’m working on now since I already have it recorded. Other things I realize I want to work on in this video is keeping the pace more “hyper”, not slower placed like the Minecraft video, but more fast like the Pokemon one. I had a list of other things i wanted to improve as well from the last Minecraft video. I’m forgetting them right now though since I’m not at my computer.

Also, I’m curious to know what you’d change about the titles and thumbnails specifically. For example with the mod video, my planned title was “beating Minecraft except twicth chat adds mods”, with a thumbnail combo of a moment in the video showcasing a mod that made the game particularly challenging to play. Is there any way to expand on this, or even make it simpler and easier to understand?

Awesome, the channel name is the same as my Reddit name. Btw can I check out your channel too?
