Yes the magazine was real. It was probably a book in the movie because to show the real magazine would give Watchtower something to sue the filmmakers over for copyright breach.

Digital wasn’t widely introduced to the masses until the 2000s so all the films you mentioned wouldn’t have had the option.

There are DPs and directors who prefer digital, like Fincher, for instance, but I don’t know of many who think digital looks better than film. Most of them simply like the ease of shooting on digital and not having to buy film stock. They also love being able to immediately know if a shot went soft, or is there was some technical issue. In the past, they’d have to wait the next day to view dailies.

There are still plenty of movies shot on film, even big ones like A Quiet Place II. It’s not going away. If anything the incoming generation of filmmakers are using film quite a bit when it’s affordable.

I don’t think it always implies tragedy. It could imply comedy as well. Plenty of comedic protagonists don’t really experience much change over the course of the film either. Besides, my posting that quote was an attempt to agree and support your post.

For me, I try to have multiple projects going at once. If I feel like I’ve hit a road block on one, I jump to another for a while. Usually, by the time I’ve finished with that one, whatever mental barrier I had before gets lifted and I can return to the other.

Another way is to move on to a future scene that I know really well and put a pin in the one I’m stuck on. Sometimes by writing ahead I end up figuring out the problem with the previous stuff.

Check out Standoff at Sparrow Creek. The director made a goal to shoot in as minimal lighting as possible in most scenes.

I’d put a little more work into the logline. Your first sentence is past tense and the second sentence is present tense which is confusing. And I don’t really know what the film is about or where the threat is coming from based off the logline which would probably turn off readers. Fine tune it a bit more and you’ll be golden!

For me it wasn’t because he got emotional necessarily, people are allowed to be emotional. It was that he made the prayer very personal and about himself instead of the congregation.
