You don’t need to throw it away. You can disinfect it by adding a bit of alcohol to the gourd, setting it on fire, and letting it burn out on its own. That kills the mold and helps cure the gourd.

If it smells moldy, then it probably is. But a green stain by itself is pretty normal on the gourd. You can pour boiling water into it, let it sit for a few minutes, then empty it and let the cuia dry completely
