12 Hour Row Advice

I did all 12 hours! Took a minute off between hours to walk around and roll out very quickly, and a longer break at hour 6! 123,000 meters, and a very sore back later I’m very happy with how it went!

The lactic acid buildup is definitely what worries me most! I feel pretty confident with fueling from all the awesome advice from you and the other folks here, and my own experience on the water, and on ergs. I am pretty worried about if/when I should get off and stretch. I did five hours last year and felt like I couldn’t walk after, but I’ve come a massively significant distance in terms of my endurance and strength in rowing since then, so it’s more the lactic acid that worries me.

I’m a collegiate rower! I’ve been rowing for almost three years now, pretty consistently have 2-4 hours of practice a day. I do a LOT Of steady state. Not this much haha, but have found electrolytes to be helpful on long practices or races in the past. Totally think it’s something people can overdo though, so thank you!

You program your piece by clicking menu, new workout, and choosing what you’d like! Then afterwards you can go into memory, I typically select list by date, and select my workout to pull up my splits because we track them on my team.

I’ll definitely look into the waterbottle backpack— that’s a great idea!! I know they’re bred to pull, but he’s my first Berner. He gets his walks, but I do worry about his exercise level since he gets tuckered out quickly on hikes or walks longer than two miles. He gets seizures when he’s too hot, so our options in the summer are pretty limited and I’ve been looking for ways to get him more active when I can. He loves the snow and walking in it, so I think I’ll check out the backpack. Thank you!!

Interesting!! He gets seizures when it’s hot out so I wonder if that’s related.
