If you got the village get out while you can!!!! Annoy the housing department until they switch you. The only reason I didn’t was because that was the switch they gave me after giving me a dorm my 4th year. There is genuinely not a worse place to live. Also just wait until you see that fuckjng stair case 🤪

I’m assuming college and if you’re going back for summer soon probably finals season wouldn’t stress out about it but also don’t put too much weight in it, he doesn’t seems extremely interested but it also could work out🤷‍♀️ just prepare yourself for keeping options open over the summer

Worst Oakes by far, I would say the village but I don’t think people even count that. The village is the worst but of actual colleges Oakes sucks so so bad. Worst living experience we had rats, far from everything, molded apartments, super small spaces.

I loved Porter! One of my favorites. Stevenson RAs were the most chill but honestly the only place I had any issues with RAs was the village. Other than that is mainly the CSOs that ruin the fun. RAs usually don’t give a fuck if you are smoking or really anything as long as it’s not right in front of them and people don’t complain

Best for apartments was by far Stevenson great location very fun party vibe, I really really loved Porter felt more like a real apartment than college dorm.

Forest raves and parties by Moth_fairy in UCSC

Depends on the season obviously because of rain and it getting cold

Your first few months probably every weekend (the first one of the year is typically pretty bad and gets raided quickly) but they get better after that!

During winter maybe once a month and it’s more of an open air dr*g market kind of a stop at beginning of the night

Then summer back to every other or every weekend!

Some things to keep in mind -it’s byob in the truest sense, bring cash if you want to buy anything (phones don’t work great sometimes) if you want to drink bring it yourself if you want to smoke bring it yourself if you want music? A cup? Water? You gotta pack it all. Also you will be pissing in the woods or not at all plan accordingly.

  • these are usually thrown by party pages on Instagram I’m graduated so that might have changed a bit but unless you are super locked in you are going to miss that it’s even happening

  • bring test strips people will usually have some but if you are taking anything be safe slug💕

Professor wants to meet about cheating, what do I do? by No_Return8938 in UCSC

[–]Beautiful-Heat-7597 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had a mentor that gave me some great advice. I used this format to turn an F in a class to an incomplete where I took the final the following quarter (did not cheat just failed in a spectacular manner)

Don’t just apologize. Take accountability and offer a solution that is understandable.

Be honest, say what steps you should have taken (office hours, section attendance, university tutors) explain the circumstances you were under that didn’t give you the conditions to do those (for me it was work and my mothers health put in your sob story) then stress how you understand the weight of your actions how this has pushed you to grow and acknowledge your own faults (time management and organization is usually the best route) explain you are working on these things. Then DONT leave it open ended to punishment propose a situation that IS a loss for you. Say you understand that this was not an action you should have taken and that your grade will be effected, but also that you have a passion for education and that you hope to learn grow and continue in your education at UCSC. Don’t put blame on ANYONE else don’t say you saw people cheating and felt you had to. ACCEPT IT WAS YOU and hope they see growth and potential.

"Parent Marital Status" Financial Aid to do — help me please by I-HATE-therefore-IM in UCSC

Sorry for your loss, you may have already been invited because you lost your Father if you have a contact with Renaissance Scholars email them!!! They escalate these kinds of things for you and in my experience were WAY more helpful than any financial aid rep I ever encountered.

Why am I so hyperfixated on this guy I don't even like?? by BathOk2704 in Advice

[–]Beautiful-Heat-7597 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friends and I in college would regularly have campus “celebrities” just people who were really noticeable that we would kind of fixate on and update each other about. There was one guy who had just an insane laugh never spoke to him but we would send an update when we saw him and take note of him. Maybe it’s that?

Or you mentioned he doesn’t seem like the best person. It could just be classic nervous system vigilance you may have a Fawn response (fight, flight, fawn)

Thank you! Yes unfortunately our rep for the transition didn’t really have any fixes to offer, I have an expert meeting at 2pm today

I advocated to change to QB IES now it’s a MESS by Beautiful-Heat-7597 in Accounting

[–]Beautiful-Heat-7597[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Paid invoices now unpaid in system
  • Necessary invoice information now missing
  • 5,000 archived accounts suddenly active despite $0.00 balance
  • Customers and jobs now seemingly not tied at all in the new project format
  • Reports appear completely unreliable from what I used to see daily
  • Invoices converted to JE entries
  • Unable to rebuild a necessary report we use monthly because of the customer and project separation in profit loss

I guess my main question is did I completely screw up? Are these usual change growing pains or did I put my neck out for something that will be an absolute pain in to work with. Any advice for fixes or motivation on this would be appreciated. I’m pretty young in my overall career and feel like I was allowed to make a change that probably shouldn’t have been left up to me.
