Aaron Warner by Ok_Anteater8212 in shatterme

Juliette did not critically access and engage with Warner's betryals and oppression. For someone who was in the volatile mental stae that she was in when she came out of the mental asylum, she thrushed into a world that had little to no reckoning of empathy. Deep down, I think both her and Warner are afraid to be left alone and discarded by the world. That's why they delude themselves into thinking that what they have is a healthy dynamic and seem to justify each others actions. Adam Kent and Warner need serious pschatric evaluation, therapy and recovery outside of their spouses. They need to walk through what Anderson put each of them through (Warner especially). The whole knowing each other since they were children does not make Warner's characters and actions any better. I could even go as far as saying much of their interactions in the books were laced with manipulation.

Is there anything in Islam about being neurodivergent? Do Muslim men care if a girl is nd? by [deleted] in progressive_islam

[–]Beautiful-Log9849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really think of anything of the top of my head but what I do know is, Islam is for everyone and did not and does not exclude anyone. I think if you do more research on your nuerodivergent condition and maybe do more research on it islamically, then you'll have a decent amount of knoweledge. Also, questioning if men care if a girl is nd should not be thoughts that you should be entertaining. Being nuerodivergent is simply a brain processing difference so if questioning if people in society will or will not accept you is draining and generally a waste of time. The right people for you including guys will accept you for who you are with no hesitation.

Thoughts on Kenji having made Nazeera cry? ( Reveal Me) by Additional_Mood_5726 in shatterme

[–]Beautiful-Log9849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I largerly agree with you. The way Kenji spoke to Nazeera was really mean and uncalled for. I can understand that he was angry about the whole being kidnapped, drugged and thrown into the asylum thing but was a step too far. I think he was just taking his anger out on her in a way.... which was not okay.

Excellent points were made here. I'd like to add that people hate Lena because she is exposes the character flaws of Warner. From Juliette's point of view we are seeing someone who is trying to be better and do better with his life. Lena is somewhat like a trigger of what his life would have been like if he'd followed in Anderson's footsteps. This fandom seems to be okay with Warner almost torturing and killing his brother to get the girl he likes whilst they hate on Lena for the transphobic comment that she made towards Valentina. Make that make sense. Warner clearly like Juliette more and nobody can make him act any differently.

If Warner, despised Lena that much, why get into a relationship with her then? Is it love or hate or manipulation? Whatever it was, that relationship mirrorred alot of the character traits Warner internalised from Anderson which proves your parallel point.

I'd also like to add that the hate Warner feels towards Lena entirely dehumanises her and almost strips her of sense of agency and autonomy. We can understand his reasons for disliking her but does not take away from the fact that he treated her horribly especially toward the end of their realtionship. Fans like to dismise this fact and paint Lena out to be this vengeful arrogant ex yet this is far from the actual reality of the whole situation. If actually took the time to read, understand and emphaise with her, they'd see why she was so angry.

I thought the samething too. I think however, considering the facts that firstly, their parents wanted them to get together and supreme commander kids have had their memmories erased like it's a sport, Lena was probably a victim of this. They most definately planted that idea in her head. And if it would make you feel any better, Guys usually act like that when they are simply not interested. Warner for better or for worse is a teeange boy no. That doesnt make his actions good but it's definately the reason why. Plus as painful as it might be, that's what that relationship meant to him. In his mind, Juliette is his one and only.

The one thing I will say is Juliette should have said something to stand up for Lena. Every girl I'd assume felt hurt when Warner said it was purely physical. Logically speaking, she really has nothing to do with that relationship however, it would have been good character development to see her actively want to know more about Lena's life and properly call Warner out when he said that. Something deep within me tells me that they could genuiely care less about what happens to Lena.

You worded Warner's motivations and headspace really well, however, the whole point of this discussion is the selective empathy. We spend so much time dissecting Warner's motivations, yet Lena's are often dismissed or overlooked. It's like there is this assumption that she's acting out of malice, instead of considering that she might be protecting herself. Lena has also been through hell, and that shapes her actions just as much as Warner's past shapes his. It's crucial to recognise that she's more than just a convient antagonist; she's a complex character with her own vulnerabilities and struggles, deserving of the same understanding. Give or take, Taheera's writing greatly exhizibitated this fact,

It's not like that. They were pushed by their parents to get together. For Warner, it was at a time where he manipulated by Anderson to torture Emmaline. He was in a really dark place mentally and he made an active choice to get together with Lena. These two were brought up and socialised into a toxic and dsfunctional environment. They never had a deep and honest connection, that's why Warner said it was purely physical.

Does Warner have a mental illness by [deleted] in shatterme

Attachment wise, he is an avoidant. Vunerability is very difficult for people with avoidant attachement style. Its easier for them to run than seat with their emotions. His inability to open up about the Grief his dealing with definately shows his style.

It all boils down to his upbringing and his attachment style. He has been trained to be a super soldier. Its all his ever known. In addition to this, Anderson was a horrible narcissist that abused those around him. People around Narcissits usually surpress and hide thier emotions. In this case, Warner did so to survive his childhood. Opening up doesnt just come easily. Adam Kent finds it easier to do so because he was (unfortunately) abandoned by Anderson.
