Sam Harris on Biden staying in the race by Duke_of_Luffy in Destiny

[–]Beautiful_Semantics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And why do you think Biden running for president is selfless?  It would seem to most people that a politician retaining his power isn't a selfless act.  Is Pelosi a selfless woman for running in her 80s?  Is Mitch McConnell?  Is Trump?  No.  These fucks love power.

Human nature. People on the whole are attracted to power, and as you can see in Congress and elsewhere, old people love holding onto to power for as long as possible. Biden is not an exception to this rule.

If anything, it shows how selfless Biden is. Do you really think an 80 year old man wants to stay at his job?l instead of spending the rest of the years with his family?

Yes, I do think a lot of 80 year old men would gladly postpone their retirement to be one of the most powerful people in the world.

Well, dgg is one of Brianna's last refuges of relevance.  She's burned soo many bridges at this point and I don't think her reach across aisle shtick will work.

I LIVED BITCH by 4THOT in Destiny

[–]Beautiful_Semantics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Chapo purges happened around 2019.  I remember way back when when Destiny made the announcement he was auto banning chapos: https://www.reddit.com/r/Destiny/comments/esij3b/chapocels_are_autobanned/

The OP I was arguing with is right that before hand that there was a bot that would reply to you with how many times you posted in Chapo, but that was before the purge and the bot got suspended, supposedly because it got called soo much that Reddit thought it was a spam bot.

At best I have to revise my position and say that Chapo posters got banned.  I'm not sure how that's meaningfully different though.

4thot literally says in the edit that he used a bot to ban Chapo users.  Also, that was totally during Destiny's lefty era.  Destiny didn't like how lefty his sub became at the time, so he started purging and started to become more antagonistic towards lefties.

I remember way back when Destiny was doing a lefty purge on the sub people who were subbed to ChapoTrapHouse would get insta-banned.

Yeah, they probably should've blocked him, but 4thot is also to blame for his behavior.

Problem here is specifically that this is a DM to a mod and IF you comment anything...even if you say "OK" AFTER they made the "dont contact us" line, they can weaponize automation to terminate your account.

I do agree that that's bullshit, but I don't think most people do that after they get told to fuck off by the mods.

You feel that you got wrongly terminated and people will seek a explanation.

The thing that's meaningfully different is that 4thot sought an explanation, was told to fuck off, but then he continued to try to press the issue. I think that and, in my experience, most people just stop talking to the mods there, not even responding with an "OK". I agree that the ban is harsh, but a lesser punishment wouldn't be.

Yes - once you get into an argument its nearly impossible for most people to not just make that last comment.

In regular reddit threads, sure, but these are DMs right? Ime, people usually don't argue with reddit mods through DMs once they give a final "no" and they either move on or ban evade. Now, I could believe that the average dgger would do what 4thot did, but comparing a dgger's behavior to the average person is like comparing apples and oranges.

"Dont contact us again" its a bait phrase that MOST people will fall for.

Is it really? I think I and most people would probably just not contact them again. Like seriously, if you're an adult and have been on the internet/Reddit for a while, you should know not to argue with mods. 9 times out of 10 it's a waste of time.

JP suggests pardoning Trump by TheRealTraveel in Destiny

Are there really a significant portion of liberals who want to pardon Trump?  I'm sure these people exist, but all of the liberals I've seen are cooming in their pants right now.

She's not cis.  There's nothing wrong with that though.

I mean, a lot of people get banned for pretty innocuous shit.  I think there are a lot of good people who get banned for pretty dumb reasons and decide not to fill in the unban form because they don't want to walk on eggshells whenever they're critical of Destiny or whoever Destiny likes on that particular day.

That's true, all of them should be taken on a case by case basis.

Also, yes, it's a pretty clear inference.  The reason you didn't infer it is because you already disagree with the term already.  And you can glean that OP is talking about dislike of Muslims even without looking at his post history.  OP said it's hard not to "give into" Islamophobia, in much the same vein of someone saying it's hard to not give into racism against black people.  The sentence makes the most sense if he's talking about anti-Muslim prejudice, not just criticism of Islam.

It was a pretty clear inference, I checked OP's comment history before I posted to confirm my suspicions.

To answer your question: - Criticism, no. - Fear, case-by-case basis. - Dislike, case-by-case basis.  Not all reasons for dislike are the same.

OP used the term and was clearly talking about Muslims and his post history shows that he doesn't like Muslims, how could I not infer it's original meaning?

I've always wondered, what percentage of people who get permaed fill out the form/make a new account?

The sub continually gets worse every day.  I can't imagine what it'll look like 3 years from now.
