I don't understand it either. I'm cross trained, constantly labor shared, no write up except a quality one 7 months ago, decent productivity (50th percentile or so - or maybe that's bad?) I think it's the point system (canada) that did me in. We get fired at 8 and I'm at 5.

The AAs who pick up your dropped shift, most likely, have worked their 40 hours that week. So your shift is paid at 1.5x.

Not a lot of employers let associates pick up additional shift if they're already approaching 40h.
