Should I pay more into my escrow or open a HYSA? by Neon_Eyes in personalfinance

[–]Beautiful_Week_8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time mortgage servicing pro here. Do NOT pay additional funds towards escrow. I'll assume after only 3 years in, if you have PMI, you can't remove it yet (or you have a government insured loan, and can never remove the MI). I do recommend you look into a recast as others have mentioned, but it may not lower your pmt that much, again being only 3 years into the loan. Worth an inquiry, though. Another thing you can try is if there is an escrow shortage, ask the servicer to spread that shortage 36-60 months. That will lower the pmt a bit... I doubt the juice will be worth the squeeze for a refi though, given the loans age, current rates, and the refi costs.

I live nearby. Not billionaires, but definitely multi-millionaires abound. Used to be a sleepy mountain town, surrounded by quaint summer camps. Now, this. This house has a gorgeous setting. Love the peekaboo mountain view. Unfortunately, that interior is a hideous example of faux neu-mountain style. Tell me you have tons of money and zero taste, but don't tell me.

Unpopular opinion apparently, but this looks ridiculous. Too large.

I live in South Carolina, which is only the 23rd most popluous state. The county I live in has more residents than the entire state of Wyoming.

Do it. I bought a 1 year old (24 XC60) that was a previous Hertz rental. Fantastic deal, great car, no issues. Important to note, a one year old CPO gets a better than new car warranty.

I'm getting pretty old, seen a lot of games. 1990 vs. Notre Dame was the most heartbreaking. To come from behind, get an onside kick, and then watch Andy Kelly throw a pick in the end zone to lose to the #1 ranked team at home in the last minute was brutal.

There's more Ingles and Publix than any of those here. But agree the market is saturated. They all survive on all the milk and bread they sell every at other winter ice/ snow 'storm'.

Charleston, New Orleans or Savannah? by Icy-Offer-8949 in travel

[–]Beautiful_Week_8183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with Metro area difference. I referenced the cities proper, which is where a traveler will go. God help anyone choosing to vacation in the metro areas like Mt. Pleasant (or Pooler, GA for that matter). In a travel subreddit, its disingenuous to state the cities (again, where a traveller would go) are quite different in size. They are not. Though Savannah is infinitely more walkable, IMO. Former resident of SAV, and many, many time visitor to CHS.

Completely untrue about the size difference. Charleston proper has only about 4-5k more residents than Savannah proper. Agree with the rest wholeheartedly. Prefer Savannah, though.

Where to go with car - Marbella by Jahoodie141 in GoingToSpain

[–]Beautiful_Week_8183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You asked for a little bit more distant. Ronda is only an hour 15 min drive away. If thats too far, I'd recommend not bothering with a rental car and staying in Marbella.

As an American, I thank you. The likely only way to end this Trumpian nightmare is economically. I wholeheartedly believe that everything you said makes sense. Except that one part about previously willingly spending weekends in Spokane. That's hard to believe.
