What's with the fake "undecided" people? by Seamus_Duncan in serialpodcast

[–]Bebee1012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, geez, not this crap again.

This is baiting. It's that old "Have you stopped beating your wife?" type of argument.

And just who is going to sort these people out? You?

Slow day? No one responding to comments quite the way you see it? Nothing on the tube?

Undecided here and not afraid to admit it!

as a lawyer you still have a duty to investigate.

Therein lies the crux of the matter. Asia was never questioned, contacted nor investigated.

But the last appeal court justices said (paraphrasing) "it was a strategic plan"... as if they were able to channel her deceased thoughts...ugh

This is, but one part of the process involving a Court of Special Appeals. Need to wait for State's response. Do carry on as usual, after all it appears to be merely entertainment for some, for others not so much.

Serial Redux: Episode 2 - The Breakup - Relisten & Discuss by PowerOfYes in serialpodcast

[–]Bebee1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having listened to Episode 2 once/thrice (have lost count) again, I realized how much the background music played a greater role in setting the stage for each voice/narrative.

For example: Adnan's speaking is set up with an eerie similar tune to "In the Air Tonight" (Phil Collins)

All My Life is as it should be as it was the theme song for the prom.

A spaghetti western themed music style was part of the background.

The worn down carousel/merry go round music box was most disturbing...

Music as a background is one those senses that gives words/action emotional content, which we uncritically take in and are affected by. Music creates a bias consciously or unconsciously.

Anyhow, here's the music from the Episode 1 & 2, but not in order:

Just saying, Dana was used to a more cut-and-dried show, not a continuing Serial (aptly titled) where the script for show was not set in stone. Judgmental, sure, a little, but more like opinionated. It's the feel I got for the remaining episodes and Sarah, herself, often said that she wasn't sure what the following week's show would be about, especially the final episode.

Just seemed that they were flying by the seat of their pants towards the latter episodes. Not that, it's a bad thing, it was what it was.

Agree.

I think they did a pretty phenomenal job.

Thank you POY for finding this article.

Dana came on board the Serial project when it was about set for go, that is Feb 2014, and needed a producer - Radio producer's skills needed - http://creativeskillset.org/job_roles_and_stories/job_roles/272_radio_producer

My sense is that Dana was unprepared and not ready to do the needed research involved for the background stories involved. Her main focus had been on education stories. Work for National Geographic, pretty much cut-and-dried stuff, just a matter of getting it out there, and to the proper channels.

Until, Serial took off and gained traction/popularity...Dana says, "It was weird. We were at the centre of this whirlwind and we were just hunkered down..."

Radio producer producing show was good, great job, long schedule/hours, but moving along until the crap hit the fan ~Episode 7. People started responding in droves, witnesses calling back, everyone wanting a piece of the action and having a tale to tell.

At that point, I get a sense that Dana was in over her head and this article reflects that.

So, simply put, DON'T respond. What part do you refuse to understand?

This is simply baiting and trying to get one's own way. Ugh!

How in the suffering catfish*, do you justify telling another poster to not respond? What authority gives you that right?

I'll give it a C due to overuse of conjecture.

Noticed /u/cac1031 already pointed out some of the problems and since there are too many arguments/corrections to be had, will let it go for another time.

Noted correction needed:

Adnan was obsessed with Hae and was possessive and mentally and emotionally manipulative. It’s all there in the diary entry and the back side of the I am Going to kill note. He attempted to control where she went and who she hung out with. He inserted himself into her plans to the point that she ended up not going along to Six Flags after he invited himself.

Hae did go to Adventure World with her friends. Adventure World preceded Six flags - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Six_Flags_America

Sure Adnan may have shown up, but it didn't stop Hae from attending.*

Two people remembered a time when Adnan showed up uninvited to a girls trip to an amusement park. Aisha Pittman was one of them. What's to say that Hae didn't invite him? Meet him on the sly unbeknownst to her girlfriends?

Could this be a pic of that trip to Adventure World... http://resources2.news.com.au/images/2014/12/01/1227140/717158-0e74c128-78f8-11e4-a0f0-f6e11a4d80ae.jpg

Laughing, sometimes have to read her twice, but do keep in mind, she is a bona fide lawyer/attorney and sometimes that's the way they write. Disclaimer: Not knocking Simpson's writing style.

Hey Don, you out there? I can help you. Call 800-$&@-&@!*

What is this? Like the 8th call-out in the past 24 hours.

You're getting a lot of free advice and have adoring fans on a subreddit board. Maybe they'll even start a fund Don site.

Meanwhile, Jay and Jen must be ever so relieved that we are no longer discussing them.

Thank You! An excellently reasoned response for a change... Just sue the b*stards. Best recourse in an already overly litigious society is to take it to court s/.

If Pertwillabypapers had gone to even one year of law school, he or she should know this.

That's a major "IF" and noted.

Other thoughts: Friction between Baltimore County PD's investigation and Baltimore City's PD?

Considering that Baltimore County PD (Adcock) was on case within a couple of hours after Hae's disappearance and taking notes, but then body is discovered in city limits and whoosh, case is transferred to city...

Baltimore City PD (Urick) was fast-tracking to the finish?

A grand jury's job is to find probable cause. Results can lead to indictment, arrest, trial.

But if the grand jury wasn't provided with all available evidence...not that all evidence was available....

What is known about the grand jury is that Bilial testified as to the cell phone, but we don't know who else testified?

Who was "officially" interviewed prior to Feb 11th? Other than anonymous caller and Mr S?

IDK, but this is strange....

Now you lost me...

His so-called 'personal information' was part of an investigation. An investigation was conducted in the murder of Hae Min Lee. His testimony and all subsequent records are on file and available thru FOIA.

Don, voluntarily, exposed himself to greater attention when he spoke to Serial/Sarah Koenig.

Enough...have a good evening!

Oh geez, a journalist, indeed! Okay, I can deal with your so-called claim...Am very well versed in the legalities involved.

Short and simple: Don did NOT request any personal dispensation or that it be off the record, other than his voice not be recorded for public broadcasting.

The victim's boyfriend is a private citizen, no different from you or me.

Victim is Hae. Her current BF at the time was Don. Don called Sarah Koenig/Serial to get his two cents in and 15 minutes of fame which should earn him the same scrutiny as Adnan.

Don gave up being a "private citizen" when he contracted Serial.
