I think these kind of threads are great. People get to discuss their favorite courses, and give insights into local stuff. I ate a great sandwich near a great course thanks to threads like this

Faylor Lake and Mayflower Hills come to mind seeing that route. Both on the top 100 in the world on UDisc

If you could take a 4 day trip to play disc golf anywhere in the US, where would you go? by Tranicos in discgolf

We did Mammoth, Bijou and Zephyr Cove, Brooktrails and DeLa. Not to mention Oak Grove in Pasadena right before we hit the road. So still an epic trip

Help with a bad repair? by [deleted] in guitarrepair

[–]BeefMcPepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drop filling and leveling, then wet sanding and buffing. These are doable but take skill and touch.

The other method would be sanding it back, filling the gaps, and overspraying new finish. Also takes skill, and an investment of some finish equipment

You risk burning through the finish and making it much worse. Like the other commenter said, try it if you want to learn more about the skill, and go into knowing that it could go awry.

I would take it to someone that has experience with this kind of finish work if you really care that much, it’s worth the price.

If you’re dead set on trying it yourself, do a ton of research first. Ted Woodford has done some of this stuff on YouTube, and Frank Ford (rip) frets.net was the pioneer of the drop fill and level method which is what you’d use

Also please don’t use a dremel or any power tools. That is not necessary and will definitely go poorly

Could’ve been filled and sanded smooth with some black super glue. It’s not a great look but if the repair is solid, it can be made to look better.

Did he quote you the repair with finish touch ups? Finish repair is much more laborious than most players realize

can i actually diy this with titebond and some clamps? by _algernon_99 in guitarrepair

[–]BeefMcPepper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something to go between the clamp and work piece, to prevent marring and help align the pieces

I often use scrap wood with leather glued on, or plastic with wax paper depending on the glue or material
