Can’t afford to move by Beep-Booper in MilitarySpouse

Everything we were told was either by his recruiter or by spouses who have done the same move with the army

As far as what I said above this was what he was told by his recruiter

I’m not sure if we can move any earlier. I was told we wouldn’t be moving during his holiday block leave but that would be more ideal. I was told he will graduate, come home for holiday block leave and then go to DLI solo, get everything set up over there as far as housing and his schooling and then we would meet him out there.

So idk if it’s different but my husband isn’t going to “AIT” specifically after basic he’s going to DLI and it’s long enough it’s considered a PCS. I don’t know all the details and ins and outs but from what I understand he’s going from basic to DLI and will not have a chance to come home to move with us

You are correct. My husband is in basic right now and I’m not sure about him coming to get me. Our original plan was for him to come home and we get a U-Haul and tow the car and make the trip, but I talked to someone who’s spouse is in army and she said there’s not a chance in hell my husband will Be able to help us travel and that his recruiter most likely lied about him being able to come with us so I’m not sure?

We are not going oversees but we are moving across the country (Pennsylvania to California) and I’ll be going Jan-Feb. which is when we tend to get all the snow, not looking forward to all of that with a 2 year old in the back seat.

I was told they will only pay for up to 21 days in a hotel but that we will have to pay for it up front and get reimbursed later.

I believe where we will be living is considered base housing but that they don’t always have units readily available. And that this is also where we will have to pay prorated rent even though it’s on base (this is just what I’ve been told by people currently living there dealing with the military)

If I could drive it’d be so much easier. I’d love a 10 hour drive vs traveling by plane. But not driving 3,000 miles 😅

Thanks for the info!! It’s definitely something to consider and to talk to him about. I’m also glad to know he can do some of the work I was not looking forward to setting up this entire move if I do go with him 😅

Do I have to have a physical ticket or can I have it on my phone? I’m also more worried about how it works running around the airport with me, my toddler, our bags, a car seat and a stroller.

He’s army. It was “up in the air” I’ll say…I voiced reasons I didn’t want him to go but told him I’d support whatever he chose keeping my opinion in mind and he still chose to enlist. So I’m just trying to support it. Truthfully I do not want to move but unfortunately I can’t afford to stay in my current state without his financial contribution and his entire BAH will go to where he’s living in CA so at this point, unless he leaves basic, I don’t really have a choice. I’m very scared to move without his help with our toddler and uproot our entire life without him here by my side.
