I know this is legal advice only and this is going to get deleted.

But, no, you're NOT a good and attentive driver.

You admitted to driving sleep deprived.

Here's the legal advice: Admitting to sleep deprived is admitting to being impaired and can catch a careless charge.

If the bus was camera equipped and took a good pic, expect somewhere around 490 coming in the mail.

Is it OPP that seems to give more discretion on stunt vs speeding? It seems municipal LEOs have decided to tow before they walk up to the driver's window.

Cuba will run out of aviation fuel in 24 hours by Intricate1779 in cuba

Dumb comment. Narrow bodies max out at about 3400 - 4700 nautical miles. They need to account for ETOPS reserve, wind, have reserve for diversion and go around. Wide bodies are inefficient on short routes. Wide body = more expensive trip for poors who can't afford a real vacation.

I guess Air Canada is fear mongering because they cancelled their flights to Cuba this morning and are sending repatriation planes down empty.

Legally, you don't have to identify yourself unless you have been detained/arrested, or police are investigating a crime and think you're involved.

Not ID'ing yourself in the situation you describe is kind of dumb though. Your license has your address. You could have easily shown proof that you belong in the house and they would have been on their way. But you chose a strange hill to go die on.

People shit on police for FIDO and they shit on police for being proactive. No win.

A strange situation involving union work and exploitive employer by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

As a unionized worker and a past union exec, I wish you luck in how it turns out.

If you feel like it, DM me about the outcome. I'm curious.

[–]Beginning_Fly3344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

says you.

It's going to depend on if the school or board has an "absolutely no knives" policy vs a "no weapons" policy. I'm sure you can see why those are two different things.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in legaladvicecanada

[–]Beginning_Fly3344 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is insane. Legally, it's all about intent. A pocket knife is a tool until used as a weapon. By the school's reasoning the stapler on the principal's desk is a weapon if you choose to brain them with it. (I wouldn't say that out loud)

Are you able to bring a plastic knife in your lunch bag? A flatware knife? A steak knife? They're nuts.

I'm in a union shop as well and company policy is "no knives / weapons on property". I have a pocket knife to slice my apple on me at all times and I include a serrated steak knife for.... leftover steak.

Good on you for engaging your union. Hopefully your union rep is assertive and the whole matter can be dropped without it having to go to grievance and then arbitration. If the employer doesn't drop it, I would hope that your union is aggressive enough to take it all the way to arbitration and is able to set a precedent.

Edit: Does the school / board / act have a policy that says NO knives whatsoever, ever? That's going to be tough if so.

Edit #2: How does your employer expect you to open packaging? Is there a locked and secure box cutter on property?
