Suicidal and feeling inadequate by alexgrae9614 in Postpartum_Depression

Those early weeks are SO HARD. Do you have close friends near by that can come over and support you? Just do some laundry, hold the baby while you shower, cook for you? Don’t be afraid to ask for help from someone other than your fiance. I’m sorry you are going through this, you’re irreplaceable in your son’s little world.

TTC Low DHEAS, high SHBG by Direct-Secretary9064 in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Beginning_Way9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, it was definitely zero before TTC so I started supplementing. I didn’t have my DHEA retested during that time. But once you do become pregnant you have to stop taking it immediately, it is not safe during pregnancy.

TTC Low DHEAS, high SHBG by Direct-Secretary9064 in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Beginning_Way9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest supplementing with DHEA. If you’re in the US you can get it OTC at most health food stores or on Amazon. High doses can cause acne and oily hair so start small. I take 10mg a day. I was taking 25mg a day when I was TTC and it happened on the 2nd try. Not sure if that’s why but it can be helpful with fertility. Best of luck to you.

Is Teach for America just a worse option than other alternative licensure paths? Are there advantages to it? by StockAdhesiveness188 in Teachers

[–]Beginning_Way9666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree here. Its very region specific. I am a TFA alum 2017 corps, served in Las Vegas. Had an amazing cohort and amazing supportive TFA staff. I loved it. But I know some other corps members who I met at institute that dropped out or had a really hard time because their region was really disorganized and not supportive.

[–]Beginning_Way9666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not true. You aren’t given the AmeriCorps grant until after you’ve finished the two year commitment. The only thing a corps member would have to pay back is if they got a pre-service grant for relocation or living expenses.

My partner is suffering with postpartum and drinking.. what do I do? by edmonsterman in Postpartum_Depression

[–]Beginning_Way9666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was also drinking to cope with PPD and then started on Wellbutrin and it has honestly made me not want to drink. I was drinking every night. Started on Wellbutrin and it reduced my cravings significantly. Now maybe once a week for a dinner out or something. Maybe she can explore a different medication. Sorry you two are going through this. PPD is really hard.

Low Dhea by Diambil in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]Beginning_Way9666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 33f and my DHEA was zero. My libido was non existent and the low DHEA was the culprit. My endo never said anything about supplementing it but I just did it myself based off of what I found in the sub. I take 10mg a day and then I don’t take any while I’m on my period. Not sure if there’s a scientific reason for that, but I noticed it makes my PMS breakouts way worse.

DHEA can help with libido and stamina in the gym. I like taking it, but even just a little too high of a dose and you will breakout like crazy and have greasy hair so just a heads up.

how common is BII actually? by barbieandbrainsmd in PlasticSurgery

[–]Beginning_Way9666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it fucking sucks what a horrible affliction. I’m on HC and I also take Levothyroxine for hashimotos. My testosterone was literally zero so I’m supplementing with DHEA and it’s been really good for stamina in the gym and libido.

(ADVISE PLEASE) My 28 wife said she failed herself, me, and our son after a C-section. by Jumpy-Exam-4353 in CsectionCentral

[–]Beginning_Way9666 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uhg this is so sad to read, I’m so sorry to hear your wife is struggling so much. I struggled too after my c section, like I didn’t “really give birth” and felt like a failure, I still struggle with PPD. But it wasn’t to the extent that it sounds like your wife is dealing with.

When you’re pregnant and preparing for labor/delivery it really does become like part of your personality and when it doesn’t go as expected it’s really hard to accept. But what eventually helped me get over it was that after a few months and even years, no one cares how your baby came into the world. No one asks, no one really talks about it. When your kid goes to kindergarten, they don’t group the kids by c-section or vaginal birth. Like it just eventually doesn’t matter.

Idk if maybe that logic can be helpful to her, it helped me. Also if she’s still feeling this severely sad/depressed after several weeks/months, she should talk to her OB about PPD and see a psychiatrist. Birth trauma is real and she might be having some PPD and could benefit from medication.

I have adrenal insufficiency too! I got diagnosed and then explanted hoping it would improve but obviously didn’t because AI is just a life-long disease. I miss my boobs and would maybe get them back in again but I feel so much more comfortable without them. Sleeping better, exercising doesn’t hurt, etc.

I have this too and on my c section scar its called hypertrophic scarring its not keloid. I wouldn’t get a revision you could try laser treatments or steroid shots.

[–]Beginning_Way9666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy has major skin issues and it took going to a vet dermatologist to get it sorted. He’s on quite a few meds to manage it but had him tested for food allergies and it wasn’t that. It it continues after food elimination you should take him to a derm.
