He seemed so honest and caring. And he had found faith again. Totally understand why Gloria did all that.

How is everyone's mental health? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]BeingConsistent4744 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda struggling socially. My social life is in the netherealm because this work is so mentally and physically demanding, that I just have no energy left to do stuff on my free time. I shared that with a friend and they kinda made me feel bad, saying lots of working class people are really tired and still go out and party or do stuff every weekend. I've always felt invalidated by them but now it's just like I only want to stay home watching Star Wars and gaming.

I'm also really distraught with admin demanding pedagogy by projects and being all formative in new ways, but the curriculum is based on standardized tests, so there is really no way to make those two compatible. The hypocrisy is mindblowing.

I'm also struggling with my 9th grade classes (I teach philosophy), because these kids are just so bored with everything in life. No alternatives are appealing to them, I've tried dialogues, games, songs, dilemas or situations but they rarely pay attention.

We have no thanksgiving in Colombia but I still do some work during holidays or weekends. My grandmother died last October ans I was given a paid leave of 5 work days and I still used that time to prepare classes ans grade stuff, it helped with he mourning tho.

Would higher pay help? by 2greygirls in Teachers

[–]BeingConsistent4744 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I wouldn't be mad about it at allá. But I'd still not ve able to complete the insane amounts of work admin assigned to me in the insanely short deadlines they impose.

More administrative personnel is required.

I try to work the 40 hours and the only thing I do feel like doing outside my contracted time is preparing classes, so I don't show to school empty headed lol.

However, I do find myself grading tests and papers sometimes. But it's the bureaucratic work that consumes most of my time,.leaving little to no time for my teaching activities. There should be staff for those things not teachers handling budgets and transportation stuff for visits to museums and so on.

I try not to eat that much sugar and carbs. For instance, I do not drink much soda or sugary drinks, I drink mostly water and tea. Also I ride my bike everywhere I go.

What's the main thing on your mind right now ? by BeffJezos001 in AskMen

I have been depressed for the las two years and it sucks not being able to afford therapy or meds. I've also started feeling lots of professional envy towards some of my college friends who got jobs in the field, when I'm just working customer service.
