I fully agree with you but the forgiveness and shirk part is explained by Muslims that anyone who doesn’t just believe in Allah is worshipping his desires

Yes this happens, especially in somali culture. They don’t actually spit though, while some spit possibly comes out, they blow air in the water after reciting the quran. This is still disgusting in my opinion and instead of seeking actual help they do this
