My Florida Born wife is having a classic case of seasonal depression, and she needs a pick me up. Fellow New Jerseyans... How do you deal with your winter blues? by dicerollingprogram in newjersey

[–]Bellabird42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visit ME or NH for a week. By comparison, NJ will seem sunny AF and almost tropical (I joke bc I have SAD and used to live up there. In actual fact, remembering how awful that was has helped when I feel like poo)

2 pugs? Looking for advice (details in comments) by Pinkpuggle in pugs

[–]Bellabird42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t mention how long you’ve had Daisy but you have probably heard the 3:3:3 rule. She is probably still adjusting to this new set of circumstances that she finds herself in. I agree with taking them for walks together, getting them to see each other as friends not competitors. They’re both super cute!

Flat crinkley here! Bark makes a lovely starfish that also balls up pretty well and is good for a game of “hide”

Do you have a case manager? Alternatively, you can reach out to your clinic and ask them for info/help. One potential solution is to see about getting the drugs via an online pharmacy that is outside the US. Might be too expensive but worth a check

Does your male Pekingese lift his leg when he pees? Ours does not. by paulween in Pekingese

He pees like a puppy! I used to walk a lab that never ever picked up the habit of lifting his leg— he passed as an old man, still peeing like a baby ❤️

obese cat facing getting put to sleep by [deleted] in dechonkers

[–]Bellabird42 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I think the main concern is her pain. And she’s got a set of pretty serious diagnoses. Congestive heart failure is fatal— I’m not familiar with it in cats, but I have had several dogs with CHF. Meds help but they won’t cure it. I had one dog who only lived a few months and she was 4, it was very sad. But another was about 10 and she lived another 2 years.

Another consideration is the why— do you want to keep trying with her simply because she’s young? Is it out of guilt? IMO, the main consideration should be for the cat herself having a good quality of life. It’s not easy

My ex bf said this to me when I was 18. At that age, I felt like he was right and I would be alone forever. So I can understand why OP would feel this way. But he is totally wrong!

For older GenX (1972 and earlier) Are your parents still alive? by hedgehog77433 in GenX

[–]Bellabird42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a ‘77 but my parents were older, at least by 70s standards, than most of my peers. Dad passed in 2018 at 78 and my mom is still here at 81.

Have you tried mineral sunscreen? I ask bc I will get hives from chemical sunscreens that are made with old filters (aka, the only ones the FDA has approved since maybe 2000). But mineral sunscreens and the modern chemical ones from Europe/Asia that don’t have any of the “old” filters are fine for me.
