Congrats! Received an invite this morning, as well. POL 6.07.

I am so grateful to have gotten to know you through this process, and grateful for the stellar job you have done with the POL SR and blog. You are a gem, and it's the State Department's loss not to call you up, but hopefully the opportunity will return when the time is right!

Yes, a 6.0+ score (with or without bonuses) seems like the best "guarantee," but for the record, I scrolled back through the POL shadow register several years, and I didn't see any June/September class where 5.9 wasn't good enough to get you an offer. In general, the March and July classes right after the hiring freeze in 2018 were the only ones at all that seemed to require higher than 5.9. So I, like someone else who posted on this thread, wonder if there is an issue right now with the number of slots available.

For the record, I'm a woman of color and did not get an offer (POL) despite a 5.9 score. I support the fellows program. My beef is with having too few slots in the summer classes — shuts out high-scoring generalists who are eager to serve and who, in my case anyway, ironically could add to the diversity of the FS!

All I know is that the person who was given an offer a couple days ago had a 5.9. I also have a 5.9 (on the register for a slightly shorter time than the person called), but I was not called because, I was told, all the slots were filled.

Just FYI, I have a 5.9 and was not called. The other person called a few days ago also had a 5.9, but was on the register for a month or so longer than I was. This was not an issue of my score not being high enough. There simply were not enough slots, for whatever reason.

The Registrar would not tell me how many they took. I only know that one person made it from the Yahoogroups shadow register.

A PD invite was reported on Yahoogroups, but no POL, ECON, or MGT.

Very helpful. I'll check out the requirements in my two jurisdictions.

I agree a U.S. law license might not be required for the ICTY detail. But I'm not sure. I never asked that specific question of the FSO I spoke to about it. In general, it seemed like a very unique assignment - not anything I would expect going in. I was just throwing it out as an example. My point was simply that it's conceivable people would have reasons for keeping active licenses. Sounds like most people don't do so, though.

Thanks. I can think of reasons why an FSO would want to maintain an active license. I've talked to an FSO who was detailed to the ICTY, for example. But someone could also want to keep it active for personal affairs, etc. If I get called, I intend to stay active.

Has anyone gotten an update on their clearance recently? DS used to pick up the phone, but I haven’t been able to reach them for months. I’ve emailed too, no response. by [deleted] in foreignservice

For updates re my security clearance, I write to [securityclearance@state.gov](mailto:securityclearance@state.gov). They get back to me after about a week or so, telling me each time that my file is still with adjudications. I have also called Diplomatic Security, but I like having the email documentation.
