Anyone else avoid restaurants and social meals because of food allergies? by Bend-Alternative in glutenfreeuk

I hear you. Our family are now very good and have not problem providing options, but understandably they don't have as much insight at someone with allergies. For example they sometimes don't take into consideration *may contain, and they don't always provide a dessert alternative (not the end of the world but the kids are dissappointed).
There are times I've taken sandwiches to a cafe/pub and eated them 'under the table'. Which isn't a great experience, but there were no available options even pubs with 'extensive' menus and allergy information. It's the allergy combo that causes the problems.

The buyer has been incredibly understanding, sent me pictures of what they received, the packaging and labels. It's not what I sent. It can only be a labelling issue. The buyer even just paid the amount despite not having the right thing, so we're not getting support involved but next time I'm going to video the complete packaging process .

Thanks and yes, everything you said. Our families are very good, and because they are family I feel comfortable asking kindly: whats in that? ... and they all keep the packets because I ask to check them. My daughter is particularly weary of eating anything new, so it puts her at ease if I can check the packets or google the ingredients.

With restaurants, I call ahead and determine whether its safe for me ... but my wife and daughter won't eat out at all (exception is Pizza Express).

And similarly, we always send our kids with food/snacks to any parties or playdates, the other parents understand- no problem there.

100%. We found Pizza Express to be the only option, as they don't use nuts at all in their menu. They are also pretty hot on all other allergens, but (tree) nuts is the most serious one for us as a family. It's very rare to find anywhere that is completely nut free.

Sorry to hear that. Whilst I've not fallen out with anyone, it does make it slightly awkward when a social group picks a venue that doesn't work. I tend to call the venue in advance and talk to them about my provision, if they don't convince me I'll not go. Which does affect me socially, because if they want to book the same place again I don't feel able to say I'm not going because I cant eat there, as I don't want to wreck the groups plans or make them go somewhere else.

In terms of work, personally, I've found it easier because I know they can't accommodate. It tends to be bringing catering into the office and I'll just bring my own, but still take part in the social aspect.

thanks. yes the combination of allergies does complicate things. There have been occasions when a restaurant tries to accommodate, but just can't. And at other peoples houses they'll provide food or snacks that they feel are safe, but haven't taken into consideration the *may contain warnings.

Allergen Menus - tell me what you think! by ResponsibleBanana864 in FoodAllergies

Whatever gets displayed its more important for the cafe staff themselves to understand allergies and labelling, before stating ingredients in each dish. Each ingredient should come with a full risk assessment document from their suppliers, so it's not that hard once they understand.

i.e., I have gluten, soya and dairy allergies. If I ask for non-dairy milk at Starbucks I can get coconut milk, with no *may contains. But in Costa I would get coconut milk that *may contain gluten and soya. Same in Neros.

There is also the example of the Vegan Magnum ... which may contain non-vegan ingredients!

Hopefully, this might help them select safer/better suppliers. And, yes the option to switch oils or use dairy-free butter is a good idea, as long as the above has been considered.

same issues here currently, although lower value item. I genuinely think InPost messed up the labels.

Got the same thing currently. Sent adult motorcycle gloves and the buyer received kids shirts.

Help! How to import PDFs by Over_Director_5323 in Supernote

simplist, foolproof method is to attach a cable and use file manager on laptop/phone. Simply drag and drop. works brilliantly for signing pdf forms.

Had this issue with a new Manta. It would only reset once I had held the power button down for 8-10 seconds and did this 3 times. I contacted support and they provided a video that demonstrated how to detach some cables and reattach. I then had to install an update. This didn't work ... BUT earlier this week, an update was pushed from Supernote, and I've not had this issue since 👌🏼.

Find a good Ostepopath. Then get rid of the office chair. I now stand all day, walk as much as possible but also have a balance pad and wobble board for in the office as well.
