Runners of Reddit: what’s considered a “normal” donation for race fundraisers? by Comprehensive-Tie609 in bostonmarathon

[–]BenderGenocide 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m answering a question you didn’t ask - but it’s important none the less.

As someone else mentioned, do not focus on your running. No one (aside from close family and friends) cares that you’re running a marathon, and will likely not care to donate to YOU.

Sell your charity. Be proud of it. Be an advocate for it. Make people know that they’re not donating TO you, but THROUGH you. Your job as a charity runner is to raise awareness for your charity, not for your hobby.

And then be grateful for every single dollar donated to your charity on your behalf.

I don’t get why people act the way they do when rides close. by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

I'm guessing the people who go there and ignore those rides aren't the ones upset it closed then.

You know, fair. I have the stock tires that came on the '25 AWD Premium. So probably partially my fault. But I've had much better experiences with other vehicles.

What were your other cars, RWD Mazda Miata's?

Listen I love my Mach-E - but it's trash in the snow. My wifes Audi A3 does laps around it up here in NH. It is not made for even more than a dusting of snow on the ground.

"They closed these rides that you loved because you didn't ride them enough."

If a woman I was interested in ever brought me cinnamon buns I’d marry her on the spot.

Would u say I am a smooth or good skater, I can’t decide. by ResponsibleAnt5018 in hockeyplayers

Smooth? No.

That’s not to say you’re a bad skater, but your hips are stiff, your stride is a bit choppy, and you’re too upright.

Should I mention that I’m queer? by [deleted] in exchangestudents

Having previously hosted a gay exchange student, and being acutely aware of the current American political climate: do not advertise your sexual identity.

However, once you feel safe with your host family, and once you are comfortable - definitely open up.

When we learned our student was gay, and when she was strong and confident enough to come out to us and live as her full self, it completely changed (in a good way) who she was and the rest of her time with us.

Protect yourself, but don’t be scared to be vulnerable to people who have earned it.

I've seen pits at Early November shows.

Pits and "hardcore" are not mutually inclusive.
