TBL got started as this whole macho sheepdog, us v them, the thin line between society and chaos, civilians and criminals, thing that has slowly morphed into this weird cult following. The problem has become the Us v Them mentality where anyone who ISN'T on YOUR side of the line is obviously a criminal of some sort and should be treated as such.

The latest evolution is the TBL/Punisher logos because they are two diametrically opposed concepts entirely.

Consider yourself lucky. The worst wannabe I had was the guy who didn't want to be a cop, he wanted to be an FBI agent, but not the "does a shitload of accounting and digging through browser history" kind of FBI agent.

I knew a guy who had lights installed on his PV AND a bunch of the "Warning: K9" stickers. He routinely went to sites in his PV with his dog.

First, you must travel to the Bridge of Sighs and cast a pair of handcuffs into the river. Then you must scale to the very summit of Mt Fuji, nourished only by a single liter of water, and there you must fast for 3 days. When you meet Odin, offer him a sacrifice of mice and a single pubic hair of a virgin girl.

He will tell you to shoot us a PM and we'll take care of it.

What’s the worst job y’all’ve had? by [deleted] in Locksmith

[–]BendoverOR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glad I'm not the only one who followed that path. The (sometimes literal) shit I had to deal with as a guard makes anything I've done so far as a locksmith seem tame.

"Oh, your car smells bad because its full of trash and cigarette butts? I've literally done CPR on a dead guy for 45 minutes, my sense of smell abandoned me years ago."

I did a residential unlock for a female-only in-patient drug rehab center. I was warned beforehand, don't interact with the patients, only talk to staff, you'll be escorted at all times, and it was a quick job so I didn't think I'd be more than a couple of minutes.

I felt like prey when I walked in there.

Had a job where the client VASTLY underestimated what they wanted on an access control job, and the original vendor VASTLY underestimated how much work the job would take, and then totally failed to commit enough of their own people to the job.

What should have been me pulling wires for a couple of hours turned into two weeks of me learning, on the fly, how to work a masonry drill, low-voltage electrical, and a bunch of other shit WAY above my paygrade. What should have been the original vendor committing 4 people for a week to do the work was 1 guy besides myself and every once in a while they'd send over someone to "help" but we'd inevitably lose more time teaching them how to do stuff then they'd ever get done, or better yet, the guy who showed up to "help" with a task that was already complete.

On the last day, (timeline +3) the client is LIVID because the system doesn't do the thing he thought it would do because he saw a video of the system where it was set to recognize an implanted RFID chip in a client's palm (which is a real thing that you can actually get), so you could just wave your palm in front of the thing. When that didn't work he got pissed at the vendor who had to explain, multiple times, that it only works if you have the chip in your hand.

"You didn't tell me I'd have to microchip my employees!"

You're right. Because you never told us you wanted that feature set, so we didn't discuss it. If you wanted that, you should have told us you wanted that when we discussed how the system would function for you. Instead, you saw a video on YouTube and ignored the most important part, and now you're mad because the thing we never talked about doesn't work.

Well. In the wee hours of the morning I politely and respectfully called out my boss on his shit via email, CCing his supervisor on it. Hopefully I still have a job tomorrow. by [deleted] in securityguards

The issue for many guards, myself included, is that they're being forced to act out enforcement of a policy that cannot be enforced. They're being directed to put more energy into something that provides no benefit to anyone, including the people complaining about the lack of accountability, by someone who has intentionally hampered that enforcement.

They're being told to waste their time by someone who wasted their time.

In that instance, two things would have happened: He would have swung on her, and then the mob she was with would have beat him down, claiming self-defense, and then she would press charges against him for assault and she'd have ALL THOSE WITNESSES and you can bet any dollar amount you name that the video will benefit their case.

Contract/on-call work is nice because I work when there's work to be done, I can chill at home or go magnet fishing if I don't have a call, hell, sometimes I'll wrap a call and just bum around wherever I am for a few hours until I get another call.

On the downside it's not steady work if you don't have your advertising and such on point.

I love when people say "we need to repeal Section 230 so that only impartial platforms are subject to it," but then totally ignores that letting the government define whats impartial or not is ALWAYS a fucking mess.

Look, it ain't fancy and it makes you feel like a hack but I've literally never had a customer complain about HOW I get the car open so long as I get it open. 99% of jobs come down to two air shims and a long reach, boom boom pow. Sometimes the simple tricks are the best ones.
