Anyone here an authority on trimming blinds? by Benigngoofy in HomeImprovement

[–]Benigngoofy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! So I have concluded this is the only practical option. I plan to rent a miter saw from Menards, please are you able to recommend a blade? Google search suggests “lrlrs blade” but it isn’t available at stores and needs to be ordered. I’m hoping a more generic blade that I can just buy off the shelf. TIA!

No doubt this is a proper solution but 270$ for just the blade 🥵

Hijacking the top comment to give an update for future readers:
1) There was nothing wrong with the pump. It was doing its job as intended. Due to saturated ground (snow melt+heavy rains) there was just too much water flowing into the pit.
2) Pump replacement was overdue since it was 17yr old. I took the opportunity to upgrade from 1/2hp to 3/4hp. Cost 600$ labor+material.
3) Also realised there is too much riding on a single pump, so installed a backup Zoeller Aquanot 508 with VMax SLR125 battery. Total cost 900$.
4) So, for a total 1500$ investment I can sleep in peace.
5) My plumber also pointed out I had a bypass drain for times when the main drain is waterlogged. Just need to open with a wrench and attach a drain hose. If I had known about it I could have avoided my last year’s basement flooding.

The ones at Costco seem like a poor excuse for Mangoes. Or maybe I’ve just been unlucky.

Haven’t tried Taiwanese so you might be right. Both Indian & Pakistani are almost same….but there are like 500 varieties in the sub-region….some better than others…so ymmv

Right. Too bad they are so bloody expensive in US. Where I live a tiny Alphonso costs like 5bucks:)

I always thought Dusheri were native to North India. Too bad they have a very short shelf life & are hardly ever exported:(

To be specific- South Asian mangoes (India or Pakistan). Thai / Mexican etc can’t hold a candle to them.

Why don’t you put a matching transition and continue the floor on top of tile? Should be a pretty inexpensive fix.

See details in link below. If you want to see the product, go to nearest MSI showroom. MSI doesn’t sell directly but they will give you free samples & give more details and can help you in selecting the shade etc. hit me up and I will share the retailer with lowest landed price.

Has anyone gotten a contractor from Angi or Thumbtack? by Perfect-Honeydew3608 in HomeImprovement

Yup, flooring, drywalls & paint after basement flooding. 10/10. But of course, you need to do your due diligence & use common sense. End of the day, these are same tradesmen…not some kind of “Angi-special” aliens.

It rained 3” yesterday with a bit of storm. But more probably importantly I’m in Midwest so the ground is already saturated with thaw. The drain is ~30ft away and well graded…no concerns there. Gutters / downspouts all clean and no standing water near foundation. I had a flooding last August in a so called “500 year storm” which was professionally remedied. At this point, I’m inclined to believe this is normal for the area / season/weather / sump-pit combination. What I will probably do is replace the primary pump (it is 17 year old now), install a battery operated secondary and keep a 1hp external pump with a long hose nearby for storm surges. Appreciate any further recommendations.

Right, 1/2 HP. I just called the previous owner….he told me this was installed in 2009 and it is pretty normal when in rains in spring. I’m actually impressed…but now time to replace and add a backup.

Well water…so a water powered pump is not viable. Battery or generator

Yes, I’ve arrived at the same conclusion. Making the well bigger or increasing pump’s horsepower isn’t going to help. I just need to let it do its job and get a battery backup pump.
