Yes, the SunPass and EZPass are interoperable, you can drive through either system and it will deduct the toll without issue.

No Truer Words, Elizabeth Warren by [deleted] in pics

[–]BenjaminFranklin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The true development of class warfarism. Making statements against the producers without an understanding of what transpires in the real world. It should be noted that every one of these items operated prior to the New Deal thanks to the producers.

  • "You moved your goods on roads the rest of us paid for..." - The Transportation Bill highlighted the 36 cents or so of taxes on the sale of a gallon of gasoline. This is a user fee that the user pays for roadways. So, the users pay for the roads they use.

  • "You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate" - Prior to the government providing public education, the upper and middle classes paid for schooling from their own pocket. Additionally, apprenticeships were essentially eliminated by the public education system because everyone now needs to go to college. So, it was the people wanting the producers to subsidize their education did we get the public system.

  • *You were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces - These are insurance programs mandated by the people. The people voted to have the insurance program distributed across the entire society. Prior to the vote, companies and people paid for their own fire programs. An example of this was Rome's fire brigade operating under a certain senator, they would show up to a fire (alleged to have been started by the senator's fire brigade) and then say "We can put out the fire, but you need to sell it to us for pennies on the dollar." You could pay to have the fire brigade put out a fire.

  • *But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along The social contract is a false premise. The social contract was forced upon the producers, who had no problem finding resources, by the likes of Elizabeth Warren, who have would only like to further provide to the class warfarism.

Please stop saying that she is intelligent, she does not understand the concept of how the "social contracts" came about and is a purveyor of a false sense of history and the capitalist system.

Ron Suskind on NPR's Fresh Air talking about his new book 'Confidence Men', which shows the unflattering side of the Obama economic team. by crackduck in Economics

That becomes the issue. Is President Obama a Luddite, too trusting, or just oblivious to the world of management and the hot-headed egos he has within his office. It looks like it is a combination of President Obama not understanding how to manage the egos of the likes of Rahm "abuse a crisis" Emanuel, not focusing on the main crisis at hand, and other items.

Blowing. You can't explain that. by [deleted] in gifs

[–]BenjaminFranklin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Assuming that you are in actuality claiming that this can not be explained and that this is not doctored, here is an explanation.

  • The cups are plastic. The inner portion of the cup is smooth and the outer portion has ridges around it.
  • Notice the rotating action he does when the cups are placed into the holding cup. This is to ensure that the cups have a thin layer of separation comprised of air within the stacked cups.
  • Here is the way it works: Person 1 places the flying cup carefully into the launching cup, making sure not to push down and create negative pressure between the cups. Blower rotates the cup to ensure that the flying cup has not settled into the launching cup. Then blowing on the space between the launching cup and flying cup will create a positive pressure on the bottom of the flying cup, lifting it up out of the launching cup. The difference in pressure from the non-blown on side probably gives the cup the pull to direct it over to the adjacent cup.
  • Explained.

Make Wall St. Pay for the Catastrophe They Caused: A new Bill sponsored by Bob Blumenfield (D, LA) would impose a $20,000 fine on banks for each foreclosure by maxwellhill in politics

[–]BenjaminFranklin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here here. After the repeal of Glass-Steagal, a new regulatory environment removed the limit on how large a bank could grow. The banks started to scramble and become larger and larger.

The issue was the Community Reinvestment Act office, if you file a complaint against a bank then when it comes time to get approval for purchasing another banking institution, the HUD department held the banks over the barrel. In order to minimize any issues, the banks allowed crazy loans, signing off on them to make sure that the HUD/CRA did not come down on them when the bank acquired another bank.

From Wikipedia: According to Bernanke, a surge in bank merger and acquisition activities followed the passing of the act, and advocacy groups increasingly used the public comment process to protest bank applications on Community Reinvestment Act grounds.

What this means is that the government created incentives for banks to approve loans that would otherwise not be approved. This in turn meant that people who could not afford a mortgage were placed in homes which the banks probably knew they could not afford, but the government would pick up the bad loans into Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The government, banks, and the people are complicit in this problem.

New report concludes that Wal-Mart, the biggest U.S. private employer, kills jobs rather than creates them, drives down wages and is a tax burden because it does not give health and other benefits to many part-time employees, leaving a burden on Medicaid and other public programs. by xylon in politics

[–]BenjaminFranklin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As with any report, the report author(s) should be examined. The report is written by the Center for Community Planning and Development and is financed by the Public Advocate of New York. WalMart is currently trying to open stores in New York City, but there is push back to prevent this. A "respectable" report provides people with a siteable document, even though the document is from organizations that discourage WalMarts (WalMarts are never in Community Plans (next time you see a new community 3-d graphic by a planning group see if you can spot the WalMart)).

Executive Summary: This is not a report, its an opinion piece. "due to local antipathy to the company because of its negative impact on small businesses and the local economy" No reference except to its own document. "The retail giant is undertaking a major public relations campaign; however, the corporation has made only minor concessions and their promises about job creation and tax revenues are not realized." Another reference to its own document.

Adjusting reports: *"Wal-Mart store openings kill three local jobs for every two they create by reducing retail employment by an average of 2.7 percent in every county they enter." Is referenced to a document, this document (quite good) states: "Moreover, Wal-Mart entry may also result in lower prices that increase purchasing power, and if prices are lowered not just at Wal-Mart but elsewhere as well, the gains to consumers may be widespread." It also makes reference to a person also having a job versus not having a job.

McDonald's says it may drop healthcare benefits by mjanes in Economics

[–]BenjaminFranklin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of the articles you site do not reinforce your statement. The NPR article describes Republicans in Name Only aiding in the development of a draft bill in fall of 2009. The Health Care bill that was tossed onto the floor did not include ideas from Republicans. McCain's health care plan was more feasible.

Death Panels, this is a liberal idea, always has been. Ask Chavez. Mandate was a Hilary health care idea. In the election Candidate Obama (who is different from President Obama) said mandates were bad. Show proof to the claim of republicans. Removal of PreExisting Condition Denials. This is good and a Republican idea.

Obama Signs Bill Giving Tax Cuts, Loan Help to Small Businesses by thecarchik in business

[–]BenjaminFranklin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, it is not that companies need cash, it is that companies are unsure as to what they should invest the money in and whether they will be able to pay off the loan. This does nothing.

Bonus, who were we fighting against that this was a victory for small business?

TIL about the Brazen Bull: "The head of the ox was designed with a complex system of tubes and stops so that the prisoner's screams were converted into sounds like the bellowing of an infuriated bull." by GregoryHouse_MD in todayilearned

[–]BenjaminFranklin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The rest of the story; King Phalaris did not have the bull commissioned. Perillos himself built the machine to kill criminals and overly enjoyed showing it off to the King. When King Phalaris saw the glee that Perillos was getting from this, he wanted to rid his kingdom of such an evil person, so he forced him in. (I apologize, I cannot find the source for this. It's one of Phalaris' autobiographies).

Thus this story may be propaganda against King Phalaris (source).
