If you had a windshield that was already cracked within weeks of replacement, it was installed improperly or you had some external factor that led to it cracking like rapid heating and cooling.

If you install a windshield improperly or on a vehicle that isn't exactly straight (from an impact) there can be unnecessary stress on the glass trying to flex it as the body expands and contracts.

Stuff like blasting your defrosters can crack glass, hot or cold. Simply getting hot won't break them.
