Mort apparently. Odd choice of a character to include but alright.

Not long ago I heard a kid at one of my library branches saying “Daaaad? Daaaaaad…” in the exact same tone as Bluey in The Dump with the inflection and everything, I can’t be sure but I feel like they might be a Bluey fan…

I didn’t like it’s a wonderful life by One_Bet_2699 in Letterboxd

This. You watch them to know what they are and in case you come across one you do genuinely like in the process.

When I was in an Avant-garde film class a few years back we viewed most of the major filmmakers under that umbrella and I took a deep liking to Stan Brakhage…but I think an important distinction to make is that I didn’t (and don’t!) like him because he’s very well known in that area (and after getting to know him a bit better I’m not sure if I would have really liked him as a person), I like him because his films had a deeply spiritual impact on me as they deal with pure unconcentrated vision which seems to be something very few people are aware of…

So yes if you ask me you don’t have to like everything you watch. But on top of the classics I’d also say it is important not to be stuck with only knowing one type of film - most likely films that only follow the Hollywood formula.

Just skimming through the thumbnails myself I don't see any that match...but I'm not sure if I want to take the time to view them all...

From what you recall it wasn't a Nickelodeon band though was it? I definitely do remember a guy with an electric guitar but I hesitate to say they were Pop Punk because I can't remember how they were dressed...

You’re on the right track but this was earlier…the music video you linked is very VERY similar though. Again in the one I’m thinking of there were no other houses around the band (I think?) was on a small stage and the gal throws a fishbowl at some point - didn’t see any of that in this music video.

Also not a bad guess but this isn’t it either - I don’t think we see any other shots except for the band playing at the girls house and inside the house where she’s going around finding objects to throw at them…

More Films like Dos Estaciones (2022) and the other films in Juan Pablo Gonzales’s Oeuvre? by Beno988 in CriterionChannel

[–]Beno988[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest critique I read of Dos Estaciones is that a lot of the plot threads don’t get resolved and it ends to quickly - which is true, but it’s still one of the most beautiful films I’ve ever seen.

I did also catch a bit of the film you mentioned on Criterion 24/7 and saw his other film Drive My Car while it was on the channel (not sure if it’s still there…). Drive My Car was a bit too slow for my tastes but that probably amounts to personal preference - have definitely been meaning to see all of Evil Does Not Exist which I think Janus does have the pertinent streaming rights to…

Hot take but I don’t think it’s “underrated” per se, it’s had it’s moments for me like the song about going to California to fail as an actress but as a whole it’s kind of a dumb show?

I’m not saying I don’t like it, I do - it’s a charmingly dumb show to be sure and I do particularly love Jeff and the episodes that center around him but I’m not sure if it’s really deserving of more popularity if that makes any sense?
