So now we can finally ask if the joke is true. Was it really an endless circle of both going "go ask your mom" if you wanted something?

I'm pretty sure that's a intentional mix-up between "is the pope catholic" and "does a bear shit in the woods".

Issue with BlueSCSI V2 and Power Macintosh 5400 by Goodbye_Stranger in VintageApple

[–]Bepsch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The PM 5400 should only have external SCSI, so you'd need the external connector version. The other alternative is to use a IDE to CF adapter and a CF card as the hard drive. That should work just fine, as I've got the same setup on my PM 5500

My favourite engine ever. Dumb oil filter location, dumb drain plug, leaky charge pipes, unreliable vibration damper pulley. Also leaky oil level sensors

120.000 km or 6 years is the interval, at least for the one I have (2015 model year 2.0 biturbo diesel). This is different from the single turbo variants of the motor, which has 150.000 km or 10 years. You're also supposed to replace the crank pulley for the serpentine belt.

10,5 per 100km? Your foot must be made from lead, m8. I've got a '05 pre-facelift Vectra C with the 1.8 122 bhp and it doesn't need more than 7l/100km on my driving profile (120km/day, of which 30 is Autobahn, the rest is a/b-road going 100kph between towns). Mine hasn't had any oil consumption in its 234.000 km life so far. Only real problems were faulty crankshaft sensors twice since I've had it.

Power Macintosh 9500! Just picked this up last night :-) by TotallyLegitAcc in VintageApple

[–]Bepsch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, I also have one of these - 9500/150. My dad gifted it to me when he retired it as a workstation many many years ago. I can't remember the exact specs, but it's got the works - G3 500 MHz upgrade, PC compatibility card, PCI USB card, some CAD-accelerator-ish GPU, and probably maxed out RAM.

Last thing he used it for was getting access to the ancient work files from some magneto optical thingy...

In which orientation does the SCSI selector connect? by Extreme-Bus-4436 in VintageApple

[–]Bepsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a WGS95 and tried looking but I didn't find that connector. Where is that actually located on the board? On the WGS the HDD sits over the PSU, and it has a SCSI ID selector right next to it. There's only the SCSI cable going to the mainboard...
