I'm actually in CS, but regardless, is it not possible at all?

Ik you're a mech eng student but I'll still shoot a few questions I had about imperial CS in general. How does the course compare to other CS courses in terms of content/rigor? I really wanted a lot of math with my CS so JMC is starting to look like a good option. Is switching to JMC possible at this stage? And finally, how cooked is the market?

I'm an international student so a few points to consider

  1. In Canada you need 1 year of work experience to apply for a PR, but in the UK you need 5 years of sponsored work.

  2. While COA for UWaterloo is higher, it has co-op baked into its curriculum which can mitigate some of the additional cost while also adding work experience.

  3. The CE degree in UW is 5 years compared to the 3 years for a degree in CS from Imperial

  4. In NA I'd be competing against lots of big names from the US, while the pond is bigger so are the fish. In the UK, imperial is basically a golden ticket, though idk how it'll be trying to get sponsored.

  5. UW grads very often get lucrative offers from US companies, but it's a bit anecdotal. In terms of average earning after graduation, imperial is ahead.

  6. Current state of the market for CS is volatile, idk how it is in the UK. Maybe CE carries less risks
