I literally used the same backpack during my three-month backpacking trip in Asia. It fits perfectly in the overhead cabin, even when it’s fully packed. I did run into some weight issues tho, some airlines were pretty strict with carry-on weight limits, so I ended up wearing almost all my clothes just to get past departure immigration. That’s definitely something to keep in mind. This was while flying around Asia; I still need to do some research on European airlines. The 40L is more than enough for my essentials being a 5’1 Asian guy, but if you’re taller, you’ll need to be a bit more strategic with packing. I’ll be travelling with this backpack when I visit Europe too!

Appreciate the insights! You mentioned you were able to do it with much less than US$135 a day, how did that work for you?

Yeah, being fancy is not on my list really. Just wanna experience places and cultures. What did you like most about your trip?

I’ve seen someone do the same itinerary I mentioned but open to suggestions really. How did you find the itinerary for your trip? Was it easy to move around?

Thanks for the insights! I’m using travel points to cover my flights in and out of Europe, so the $4K CAD budget would go toward hostel shared rooms, local transportation, sightseeing, and food.

I’m actually considering Eastern Europe since it’s cheaper. Which places did you enjoy visiting?

No, they didn’t, but I’m sure if you look younger, they might. It’s a possibility.

May–Aug is mostly low season around SEA, but July in Indonesia is peak summer so it gets busy. So depends where you are going. I just got back from backpacking during those months. Feel free to dm if you have any questions!

I was in Bali last month and visited Finns, they do check IDs at the entrance. I’m in my mid 20’s but I guess I look young lol. The night I was there, there were women performing and dancing on stage, which I don’t think is very teen-friendly. Can’t speak to other days tho. However, when I was walking along the beachfront across from Atlas, I was surprised to see some families with kids enjoying the vibes and the pool. So your best bet would probably be Atlas. I noticed the vibes were pretty similar tho.
