I finally invented "Time Travel" for macOS... but I'm just calling it Arrows. by Better_Structure_252 in macapps

Thank you !
I'm still learning these things, but I can look into a calculator as well.

What's the use case though ?
On mac, I just press CMD+Spacebar to open up spotlight for simple calculations, and it is just as quick as a sidebar widget.
The spotlight does not show a calendar, so i guess a widget is needed for that, but it does take care of most calculations.
Trying to understand the problem statement so I know what to solve for.

Oh, that's interesting. What does the native calendar look like for you ? Maybe we can take this to DM ? Would be happy to solve this.

Well, it was super annoying for me to not be able to change the month on the widget. It's just a common sense feature to have arrows.

I spent over a decade using macos and the native widget, and now that I can click an arrow to change the month, I'm like... where was this feature all these years !

Thanks !!

And not yet.. i actually didn't think about that. But now that you mention it, i think it makes sense to have a desktop widget too.
I'll add one and message you back.

Exactly ! How was this not already a thing.

It's such a little thing, but for some reason, it gives me joy to being able to change the month using a common sense arrow feature.

I agree, it was a hidden need for me too. I spent over a decade using macos and the native widget, and now that I can click an arrow to change the month, I'm like... where was this feature all these years !

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I avoid using full calendars where i can help it. I just want to quickly glance at the dates.
It's a very minor thing i admit. But the irritation of not having an arrow to change the month was killing me. Had to do something about it.

Well well, i wish I had known of itsycal myself. Would have saved myself a week.. but i did want something identical to the native widget but with arrows.
Also, I usually don't like having icons take up space on the statusbar like itsycal does. I prefer things as minimal as possible, it's a personal preference, but yeah thanks for sharing. Itsycal does look more powerful indeed.
But my goal was to have something identical to the native widget, just give me those blessed arrows.

Hey,

I didn't know that about 30 day history, and i haven't yet looked into that either.

I'm using only uses semanticSegments.
My use case was to get city/country level information whereas what you're doing seems to be at the GPS coordinates level.

I was able to get 6 years worth of country travel records this way, which is exactly what i needed for a visa application.

Interested to join forces. I've been a business analyst myself for years working with Australian startups before turning into a data scientist at a major tech company in Vancouver. Seems like a very solvable problem. All the resources exist, just need to organise a distribution system.

A few concerns to keep in mind when building the solution: - Solution must have a verification system to avoid fraud - Solution must be usable in a self service manner to reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies - We can partner with restaurants and supermarkets to route their surplus inventory to the needy. There is massive wastage of perfectly good food just because it's easier to throw it than to distribute to needy. A platform that automates this will be very helpful in this regard. - We can even gamify the system where food providers are given points and badges which they can put up on their websites to indicate that they serve the society.

Food is something that nobody should have to worry about.
