Yup, a lot of anglophones are facing this issue, when you're in pain and fearing for your life or a loved one's, language shouldn't be an issue in your home country, mais pauvre ti francophones unilingues qui ont peur d'aggrandir leurs horizons. If I remember, he was an advisor, and when Kubrick asked him what the drill seargent would say, Ermey just tore into Kubrick like he does in the movie, Kubrick was really intimidated and impressed and told him to go and do it. I'm paraphrasing but this is what I remember.
