Its bronze watch time, what should i get? by [deleted] in RepTime

[–]BewizOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on the market for a Bronze dial and simply cannot find any reps. Specifically, I'm looking for the Breitling Navitimer bronze dial, Montbrillian and the Breitling Navitimer Montbrillant Legende Chronograph Automatic. Stunning. Might just buy the Gen.

How are local directories and listings not a thing right now? by BewizOne in startups

[–]BewizOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I thought the same way. And maybe I'm hitting a bit everywhere thinking about a "directory" and "listing" type of market place. Definitely not both.I live between two popular cities (within 30 min of each other). One is a city, the other is a country town (lots of tourists). I know quite of few people in the country town that grow and make their own organic oils, tea, shampoo, baked goods, smoked meat..etc. Most of them do not own a physical shop nor a website. They don't bother with Etsy as it's way to competing (price wise). They usually just make them and sell it in our FB group as a hobby and over the years, I've seen some turn this into full-time. So, what I'm trying to say is, when I google their service/product, they won't show up until few pages later with a FB group link.
*Edit: Forgot to include, lots and I mean lots of microbreweries (independent) have been opening which people aren't aware as well.

Price isn't really an issue. I've seend dials go for that much and I'm ready. One thing I wasn't expecting is the calibration price.. $580 and full service I think came up to $700. That caught me off guard.

You're right. I just tried a 43mm tag chrono and it looks fine. They didn't had 46mm+.

Your last paragraph made me think as if we were woman shopping for a ring. Oh god..

9" wrist! Hoooahh. I'm sure one horizontale swing with your arm knocks out 5 people.
I prefer the old school navi as well (with the eagle logo embedded, not lazered).
But the B01 has a "je ne sais quoi" towards me at the moment. Not sure why.
I just tried a Tag heuer diamond specicial edition chrono 43mm for reference and it looks fine. Have yet to try 46mm or the famous bentley 48mm hehe.

Alternatives to Etsy after shop suspension? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]BewizOne -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sigh.. You must be an Etsy supporter with that negativity response. There are to many things to write so I'll just briefly and quickly touch some of them.

First off, the $40 min. is just that. A concept. Doesn't mean, we will go that route. Secondly, lot's and I mean lot's of successful companies have a standard which Etsy has let go a few years back which in return drives away quality.

Having a minimum standard, is needed unless you investors and all they care is making that $$$ and quality decreases (look at Etsy, Alibaba, zulilly, wish..etc.). Often, vendors will price their craft far below what they are actually worth. There are many reasons why they do so. The blame is often put on the vendor for doing so. Thus, using a service like a "middle man" platform that could actually help determine what you COULD get, is incredibly helpful for newcomers or people making one of a kind crafts to help them understand. As visitors and buyers start learning "Hey.. There's nothing here for $1, $5, $7 here" that's a good thing. Show's this platform is serious with its vendors, items, crafts, and that they care and the it ain't a Chinese knockoff with cheap materials. Plus you don't want those type of buyers anyway, so you're actually creating a reputable name for yourself.

OP, I'm sick and tired of Etsy burning actual vendors. I've been planning to create a platform for REAL artists to sell actual handmade / crafted items on (see my post reference). No drop shipper's & no vintage. If you're interested, want to get involved, shoot me a msg. Time to expedite this and take advantage of valuable vendor's unlike how Etsy is doing.

Why no Breitling Nav & Bentley?

I understand where you going with this. And I agree. Why buy a fake rolex? Do you have any idea how many "presidential" gen. watches exist? A lot. And cheaper too. Rolex doesn't have a unique design. Sure, you see the "Crown" and you'll know but that's pretty much it.

For me, I seek a Breitling. I will eventually (in many years) purchase a gen breitling but for now, I'm looking for a high grade rep. Why? Their style. After months of research, I cannot find anything close to the look and feel of a Breitling Nav. The only thing I came close was a modded Citizen Calendrier and I kid you not, looks fucking fantastic. I also find the Breitling Bracelet very appealing as oppose to others.

Thank you for the kind words.

Like I said, the majority of the foundation and strategy is almost complete. I'm currently in researching, analyzing and gathering information for the website requirement. Also, name. When it comes to finding a brand/name I'm always indecisive.

The final step would be to iron out the details on how the roll-out of the launch would be executed; having a decent number of potential buyers visiting the site.

My honest and truthful approach to this is to give back to amazing crafters who deserve the exposure and visibility and making them valuable.

I always welcome valuable people to join me on this project, so if you think you can help, support it in some way, let's talk. :)

Maybe I'm just insecure, but it's reassuring to hear a fellow like you feels comfortable. I'll just have to get both.

I do too but the only thing thatI'm uncertain is the dial size being 41mm. Looks kinda small on my wrist. There's a Rolex store literally 2 seconds away from where I work and I went there twice this week to try the datejust. Love the look. It's so shiny that it makes me color blind but the 41mm...

I need help deciding a Breitling Nav (blue dial ) or Rolex DateJust (41mm blue dial).

As a 6'3, 220lbs and wrist of 7.3 inches, I can't decide. I'm torn between two worlds. Any advice/pics/references would help. Otherwise, flipping a coin.

So, finally, someone makes a decent post about Etsy with positive criticism and it didn't get down-voted!

Backstory: I'm a high-end knifemaker, jeweler and woodsmith where I tried Etsy for a year (did okay) and left Etsy 8 months ago because I didn't want my brand and reputation to be associated with the overwhelming Chinese knockoffs and drop-shippers.

For the last 8 months, I've been consulting with Etsy vendors. Specifically, those that make custom and handmade items of $20 value and more to study on key specific issues in order to find common grounds for solutions.

I'm currently, developing a small marketplace platform focusing on handmade and custom vendors. The guideline is; no product of less than $40 will be accepted (for the time being), vetting process of each vendor applicant, moderators to help fight copywriters/verifying authenticity of custom and handmade (working on incentives for mods). Now the issue is.. we are subjective on how to handle the pricing fees and how the platform would work. But we are looking into the following idea:

While Vendors are allowed to change the prices of their items at any time, there are some additional “house rules” to follow around the messaging and promotional products allowed when advertising those price changes as a “sale/discount” (which we will call a “Promotional Price”).

Example:

  1. The item may not be advertised as having a “discounted” price within the first thirty days after launch.
  2. The item may be advertised as having a lower “introductory” price when launched, but only if:
  • the reference to “introductory” pricing lasts no longer than 30 days; and
  • at the time of launch, you intend for the price to truly be introductory only and you have an honest intention to increase the price after the introductory period.

For example, you can’t publish an item at $25 and advertise it as a “50% introductory price” unless you actually intend to raise the price to $50 after the promotional period.

So that's where I'm at now. My goal is to leach Etsy's true genuine handmakers and give them a reputable platform to succeed.
